Lo all
I want to invest in a widescreen monitor and would like some advice from you lot.
Now I have 2 options
2 x 19" Widescreen's
or 1 20". I can't afford 2 20" atm and would buy another at a later date. Now my problem about the 20 inch I fancy is this. These 2 monitors from 2 different suppliers have the same model number but the all important response time differs.
Example 1
Example 2
Now i'd the one from PCWorld is the same as the ebuyer one then thats a damn good price for PCWorld and I'd go and get one tomorrow.
Anyway thanks to those who can be of assitance and thanks to those who just like reading the forums.
regards

Get the two 19". Faster response time and will probably fit and look better on the desk. -------------------------------------- http://digitalsdomain.spaces.live.com/ <--- Check it out.

The second widescreen monitor has a 25milisecond responce time, I think Firefox would streak on that thing lol.
If you want to run Eve go with 1 20''. As with two 19'' you will have a black bar down the middle of your ship. If you want to run 2 accounts, then obviously 2 19''. Plus if you do work at home, or design, coding, whatever; 2 monitors are easier on the eyes.

The 25ms thing is whats confusing me. The 2 different retailers list the exact same model number but different response times. One of my monitors, an 18" LG TFT has a response time of 25ms, I bought it when TFT's were new and fast ms speeds were in the 20's and EVE runs fine on it but I want as fast an ms as possible.
I use 2 normal monitors now just thought a widescreen or 2 might be nicer for EVE

Eve isn't as demanding on ms time as say, if you were playing UT2006 all day.

I am in the same situation as above.
I am debating on 2 standered 19 inch (no widescreen as i heard that that whide screen isnt really that great unless its 21+ cause of the resolution) or getting 1 21 in or similar.
opinions?

Just found out that the 20" Samsung from PC World has a 6ms response time not a 25ms. Going to head down there tomorrow to buy one. ú199 now so it's that rarest of events, a bargain at PC World

"Response time", btw, is actually a rather pointless measurement since manufacturers use different ways of measuring it (grey to grey, etc).
Tbh, the quality of the panel is much more important than the response time.
I have an old-ish 15" samsung tft here which is rated at 25ms and a 20" dell rated at 16ms, and I've seen 8ms / 6ms rated monitors that look, quite frankly, **** compared to these two.
Contrast and the ability of the panel to reproduct colour accurately is important too :p
And now after that little lecture, those monitors should be fine - just don't use response time as the single measure of how good a tft is (bear in mind that a lot of the faster panels can't reproduce colors 100% accurately yet )

Just went to PC World and got the Samsung Syncmaster 205bw for ú199.99. Have to say I'm very happy with it, but I still need to tweak the picture till I'm totally happy with it.

Nice, I like it. What resolution are you using for that screen? Im thinking about doing the exact same thing as I now have a GPU that can handle a POS!

1680 x 1050 and being able to have a few chat boxes open and still see whats going on is brilliant
Also this very forum scaled itself to the widescreen resolution and I thought that was kind of cool.
