Hi guys i am werking towards tech 2 light drones and i know b4 someone mentions it "they r expensive" but i make enuff to cover costs. what i wanna know its peoples opinions of the various drone types. At the moment i am leaning towards getting hornets due to high shields, high speed and no too bad damage plus thermal damage seems to be a universal weakness.
so what do u guys think of the migit terrors? which is best? whats there pro's/con's? does the devs ban sound better in the vacuum of space?

I only ever use Warrior IIs, they are super-fast and track frigates nicely I find. Then again I aint done lots of testing with the other drones!

I use Hobgoblin IIs, they hav the best dmg, but lack speed and tracking (compared to others), i find the thermal dmg helps nicly on most targets.
If oyu got enoughdrone bay for 5 mediums go with hammerheads, they are evil and will kill most frigs eventully.
Loosing them is a pain but they can save your ass from time to time, so worth it even if it is a mil to loose 5 (lights).

First off, you like Hornets due to their thermal damage? Seems strange to me.. =)
Anyway, really depends on what youre going to use them for the lighter your target - the lighter the drone, however most important - damage type. If youre hunting some Armor tankers, yes id def. go with Warriors. Armor? Acolytes perhaps? Slow but quite tough targets - hobgoblins. I guess you see the pattern. As always there is no general wtfpwn choice. But if I were to pick a single allround drone - I'd go with the Hobgoblin II.

Hornets, being Caldari drones, do Kinetic damage ...
I'd say, if you have the cash for the books and the time to train them, spec all four races and change your drones according to what you hunt/kill, because each type of drone has its pro's and con's.

Alot of good points being made here. I`m glad to see someone who cares about our small friends, the drones.
Like its been said here, its basically about what you`re fighting. Bring rocks to scissors and paper to rocks. So you`re down to the dronebay. My ship of choice has a 75m3 dronebay, this enables me to carry a set of lights and a set of meds. I use the Hammerhead II, like its been mentioned here. They have by far the best damage multipler, and even if kinetic is the hardest thing to tank, I`d use Hammerheads against every oponent (Destroyer and upwards). When it comes to our frigfriends, I reach for the Warrior IIs, their tracking and speed is nowhere other to be found. This drone supported with proper skills will kill an interceptor fast.
On the other hand, if your ship has only room for ligth drones, the tables turn. Now your light drones has to do alot of the heavy lifting. The way I see it, I make the drones fill a hole that the main weapons cant. If you have big guns with slow tracking, use warriors. If you are after heavy damage drones, go with the Hobgoblin IIs.
Hope you open the 4 different types attributes next to eachother and look at the differances, because they all have different health, tracking, damage type, damage multipler, max velocity and orbit speed.
Enjoy T2 drones. Probably the thing in this game that is so remarkably better then its T1 equalents.

Warriors for PVP
Damage type for NPCing
Simple as really. Its pretty much the same throughout the drone sizes
Explosive if you like speed, Thermal if you like damage. The only time anyone uses light drones in PVP is to attack frigs + ceptors, and you need speed for that. If its BS v BS combat your after then you need max damage, and whip out the trusty ogre II. Beserker IIs are good for mincing cruisers + Hacs though
