I assume you reference the alliance map that whoever it is updates. In that case its simply. If System X is accessable only by passing through Systems A-P, and all those systems are claimed by Alliance Z, and noone else has claim, then it is safe to assume that System X belongs to Alliance Z as well. Also, the placing of a POS in an empty system is like someone invading the Galapagos Islands, sure everyone knows its name and may know where it is, but the action accomplishes nothing.

Though I'm smart enough to know that it means absolutly nothing to do so, nor does it mean I'm winning some form of war. Nor would I consider it a good move considering what it will eventually cost ASCN in the long run. I strongly suspect that holding, and basing out of that system will eventually be regarded as one of the worst moves ASCN makes in this war. Though I might be wrong, I'm ushally pretty good at reading the writing on the wall.

I have a funny feeling that the longer this war takes, the better it is for ASCN. They have the industrial base to sustain huge losses at the beggining. BoB will have to probably maintain an absolutely huge kill/loss ratio for months to bring them to their knees. BoB is very very good at what they do, so is ASCN. Long wars favor a strong industrial base. Also remeber that It is much easier for ASCN to get 3x as good at PvP, while I seriously doubt that BoB can.
