I have been playing for many years now. And I think a major event would really throw some excitment and fear into eve. What would happen if concord and the police was to stage a strike. Whether its a 1 hour strike or a 24 hour. It would call all the aliances and corperations lone players to log on and prepare for an up comming event that would be known wel in advance. I could be set to a constellation, system, region or the whole of eve. It could affect pos or it might be an action where the polce and concord break the rules strike as in real life. But that would be left up to ccp with the mechanics. I feel this would bring some real action to eve and preperation if it is set for a dat month a head. So everybody can get prepared |

CONCORD ignores criminals, shoots non-criminals. Drifters attack and pod positive sec status capsuleers the same way FacPo attack neg sec pilots. All highsec belt rats replaced with Sanshas incursion BS spawns. All stations on random timers where all logged in pilots are forcibly ejected from the undock in current ships. Reverse meanings of the safety switch. When podded, clone appears in random station (even nullsec stations/outposts). Add current CONCORD/Crimewatch to nullsec/WH.
Theres your major event. 50000 kills by CONCORD on day 1 alone.
Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

I'd prefer something more universally impacting than a concord strike.
What about a major wormhole erruption, with every system in eve gaining 4-5 wormholeswith known space exits. Let the hopes accomodate several of the largest ships possible allowed in that space. Heck, make them cosmic anomalies so everyone can easily find them. Even more random... Don't state what security system the wormhole leads. |

Step 3. DO IT, CCP!
Many moons ago, we used to have the Concord DED X station in the Yulai system of Genesis region as the trading hub of the universe, then, AFAIR, some tradelanes/gates were changed.
An important feature of the sandbox is that these popular destinations can and do adapt over time.

This would be pretty epic, though i would want it to go a step further. A mass exodus event where we are forced to leave new eden and are able to do so with the new stargate technology we discover. We have to start fresh in a new star cluster and build all of the stations and stargates that interlink them. |

Project RESET
Every single system in Null gets reset in regards to ownership for X hours/days/weeks once per year. This would be an event that helps keep EVE interesting and allows anyone the chance to claim certain systems in New Eden. It would also make Nullsec even more dangerous and be very likely cause some interesting battles. Chaos would ensue as a result, and chaos is good for business!
Upon resetting all station services would be closed down until recaptured, even boosts in a system would be shut down as well, and all payments by alliances or corporations would be suspended as well obviously. Every capsuleer would be sent to the nearest Highsec station if they had not set a location prior to the events start. No one would be able to access any ships in their Null systems until those systems are recaptured. You can only use ships that are permitted to be flown in High security space in order to recapture a system in Null. This means only subcapitals will be permitted during Project RESET.
Think of this as an EVE version of The Purge. :) |

The problem is the amount of cattle in any MMO make this sort of thing a nightmare. Sadly, the vast majority of players have their heads down, chewing on the grass, oblivious to the world around them. These players react badly when the grass catches fire and horny bulls are rampaging around the field.
I've witnessed this sort of limited-time event in other games (the zombie plague that was unleashed in WoW prior to Wrath of the Lich Kings release), and even in games where nothing is lost in death, just the interruption to the routine sent people utterly bananas. It was incomprehensible to me (as a limited-time event is a wonderful concept to me), but the idea that the cattle couldn't do the same thing they do every, single, day, caused them to lose their mind and rage everywhere and anywhere.
Just look at the amount of fire we get here on a normal day with the miniscule incidents of suicide-ganking, mission evasion, and scamming, now ramp that up 1000%. Personally, these peoples existence is complete twilight-zone to me, but they seem to exist in ludicrous numbers. |

Change the game from subscription to F2P paid for with micro-transactions. Not a good thing, in my opinion, but I can't think of any event that would cause a bigger change in how the game is played. Or the demographic that would be playing it.
Yup, nothing else anyone could come up with would affect the entire EVE universe quite like that.

without doubt the best time ive ever had in eve Was Sisi, when EVE was exiting Beta I believe. Or one of the patch days when TQ was going to be down 24h. So they just redirected to a fresh mirror on Sisi.
But that was when the alternative was no server at all or a fake server with no consequences. Totally different to forcing people to not be able to log into TQ just to run an event like this, or running an event like this on TQ. Remember not everyone plays daily. If it's a persons once a week window you just ruined EVE for them for the entire week. |
