Edited by: Miningza on 14/10/2006 17:19:04 Hello, I have played the game a little now and i got a Caldari with a Caracal with the basic for doing missions but it's the only thing i have played so far and just use missiles gets a little boring.
I want to do some PvP/PvE but also use drones as my main weapond, if that is possible. If not then what is the best way to do PvE with drones or PvP with something else?
What race? What Ship? How to setup the character? Is there any good corp to join for PvP? A guide maybe? ...

What about you start training drone skills?
and join a pvp corp or a school corp?
You can fly any race ships with proper training.

Depends. Drones are very powerful but they can also be destroyed. T2 drones are the only T2 weapon type with no ship penalty.

good drone ships , obviously most are gallente. for cruisers the Vexor will be your ship. it's like a mini-dominix Your turrets will be hybrids. railguns or blasters that will be up to you. Should you ever go for assault frigates. you will want the Ishkur, it's a tech2 version of the Incursus with a large drone bay. In the event you will be rich enough to afford a Heavy Assault Cruiser, the best drone one is the Ishtar. Rumor has it that the new tier 2 gallente battlecruiser coming in the Kali expansion will also be a droneboat. sortoff a step up going from a Vexor to a Dominix. but i cannot confirm this. Ofcourse your dream might be to one day fly the ultimate drone ships... Carriers ![Wink](/images/icon_wink.gif)
Vexors, Domi's, Ishkurs, Ishtars are all ships wich have their uses in PvP and can make it nasty for opponents. provided you have good drone skills ofcourse and learn the specialisations , drone sharpshooting, drone interfacing, drone navigation and such up to decent levels.

Thanks for the info.
It's hard when you don't really know what to do and want to play everything there is . But drones sounds fun to use. Whats the big different with the turrets?

Also keep in mind that amarr have very nice droneboats as well. Mainly thier cruiser (arbitrator?) and the two recon ships (best recons in my opinion). So if you arent too keen on galante you can always check out amarr and see if you like them better.

it's the lvl of the ship skill, that seems to be the dominix, so that would be your galante battleship skill.

So lvl 5 of that skill would give 50% more damage?

I'm the only person with a portrait in this thread, lol.
Anywho, yes, drone warfare is doable and in several situations very useful. Its very powerful in PvP, and very useful in PVE once your ship draws the aggro from the rats.
Pros:
- They keep fighting even if you're jammed, assuming they were ordered to attack before the NPC or player jammed you. - You can use whatever damage type drones you want, giving you great adaptibility in terms of damage. - They are generally pretty cheap, even most T2 ones save for the hammerhead and ogre IIs. - In a large drone ship like the Dominix, you could have 5 light, 5 medium, 5 heavy, and 5 sentry drones, all in one ship. That equates to a good number of anti-frigate, anti-heavy ship, and ranged offensive units. - If you stick around and train for a carrier, that's a 100% drone ship right there, over 1k damage per second or so. - They allow you to dedicate your entire ship's setup for tanking or ECM, like the cookie-cutter Dominix setup.
Cons:
- They can be destroyed. - They can be tempermental, refusing to return very fast some times, though atm its currently the least bugged its even been (except for fighters).

Please read the Ships forum. Also, when asking, specify purpose. For example, are you using your vexor for mining ?
