Omega black	Posted - 2006.10.15 03:21:00 - [1] I am attempting to do lvl4 gurista ganza solo in my raven. I have cleared the first 4 stages but the fifth forced me to warp out. In that stage, after having engaged a few ships without buggin the rest, the entire room aggros. The lag was so bad that I had to leave. Has anyone succeeded in clearing this stage solo in a raven? The same goes for if youve also done the 6th bonus stage. (also please post your setup if it worked for you) this is my setup if it helps high: 5 cruise launchers, 2 heavy nos med: 1 xlarge t2 booster, 2 t2 kin hardners, 1 t2 therm hardner, target painter, boost amp low: 2 t2 bcs, 3 t2 pds 5 t2 vespa drones (I only have one therm hardner because i didnt have enough cpu for another, or for a cap battery so i chose a painter) 14.6 mil total sp (dont have torps trained) thanks
ManowarX Caldari Red Horizon Inc	Posted - 2006.10.15 03:35:00 - [2] You should be able to solo the 5th stage but be careful not to shoot the sentries as I believe this aggro's the entire room. Also, be careful with drones as they may aggro spawns as well. You're setup should be ok. Only thing I'd consider is changing the painter out for a cap recharger or injector.

Yep, the sentries are the key (just ignore them) till you engage the group near them. The groups are spread out enough to be able to control your pull for each group. the bonus stage can be difficult, as you will aggro everything. But it can be done, have done it many times. (and yes i did it Pre-Gist) My raven set-up: Highs: 6x Arbalest seige (or T2 Seige) 1x Darkblood heavy NOS 1x Tractor beam Mids: 1x Gist X-Type XLarge Shield Booster 4x Gist X-Type Hardners 1x Gist X-Type Shield Boost Amplifier Lows: 3x T2 PDU 1x T2 BCU 1x Warp core stabilizer
Omega black	Posted - 2006.10.15 05:39:00 - [5] thanks for the posts thus far, gave me hope:) now that i think about it, i cant remember if i did fire on the sentries but that could have been it, or my drones. Next time i will be more vigilant. Wildwa, did you complete the mission with that setup you posted just not with the faction mods? also, some pointers for the bonus stage if anyone has completed it, in a raven, solo, (please include setup) would also be great. im hoping my cruise launchers will be adequate for the rest of the mission as i havent trained torps (need an opinion on that as well) thanks

As far as cruise missles those will be fine, it comes down to personal preference. Torps do more damage to battleships but less to cruiser and smaller. I rely on my drones to take care of the smaller ships. Without my faction mods i had to warp out of the bonus stage a couple times, but it is generally worth it...can be some good loot drops to be had Good Luck!
The RepoMan Caldari	Posted - 2006.10.15 08:27:00 - [7] This was one of the first missions I ran in my raven, with bout 1mil sp, I cleared the bonus stage too. Nowadays I pretty much sleep through it. Basically dont shoot the sentries and you're fine, if you cant manage your drones (ie they're attacking the sentries), dont use em, you dont deserve em. There's no need for a second therm hard against guristas in a raven, almost all their damage is kinetic. Another boost amp would do you far more good, I have bout a 1k boost in my raven now, keeps me right in the sweet spot in only 1-2 boosts. And I just noticed no dc, you crazy? Though really with any setup with that amount of sp you should sleep through anything they can throw at you.

I would love to fit another boost amp in the meds but i have no way of fitting it (got electronics and weapon upgrades both at lvl 5, so i dont know where else i can trim off cpu). The RepoMan, you also mentioned a damage control in the lows, i guess i should switch out a pds for it, can i get others' opinions on that? (trading a pds for a damage control) thanks

Ascendant Frontier	Posted - 2006.10.15 19:59:00 - [9] I fly dominix so somewhat different approach, but in final state I tend to pull away from the towers to keep clear of them (drone range is 65km) this also keeps me away from the groups so i can easily take 1 group at a time. _______

(trading a pds for a damage control) thanks Damage control is probably the single most important module you can have on a raven, anything you can remove to accomodate it is worth it. If you only need to rip off a pdu then do so! I had to rip off a damage mod for mine originally. I'm a little surprised you're sapped for cpu... thanks to this silly post system i cant scroll up and see where the drain's coming from, though my guess is a t2 module you dont need.... are you using nosses? that could do it too. Far as im concerned fitting a nos is counter intuitive in any realistic pve bs build. Ah well, I'm sure you'll figure something out, just not shooting the sentries should hold you for awhile =p GE is one of the easiest most rewarding missions out there, hell I chained 5 of em a lil while back for isk (which worked decent enough), though that got boring fast and I dont think I'll be doing any real mission work for awhile hehe

I could care less about 99.9% of loot from missions. I worry more about my 105 million isk Raven with 100 mill in modules. Use the medium drones to kill the frigs, unless you have another group within aggro range. Everyone is going to have a super-duper setup to kill everything, the above setup (depending on your skills) should allow you to tank just about anything as long as you don't have a whole room aggro. Ideally, I'd go for 2t2 siege and 4*t2 cruise, but I'm doubting that's gonna fit.

On the last stage don't shoot the sentries till last just tank them. Initially you get attacked by battlecruisers (from memory). Take them out then target each group in turn. The groups don't appear interconnected. The bonus stage is a real tough one I had to warp out on this one, but second time managed to tank it wih a little amour damage and only just keeping my shield at 8%. Apparently the storage facility contains real nice loot like DG BCU's and invulns, but I just get basic named loot. Very disapointing. Actually the loot is rubbish all round but the bounties amount to something like 30 million. My Raven setup - quite affordable. Hi 6 x Arbalest Siege 1 x Heave Nos (named) 1 x tractor beam med 1 x Large shield booster (tech II) 1 x shield boost amp 1 x invuln field 2 x kinetic hardner (tech II) 1 x thermal hardner (tech II) lo 2 x WCS (named) 1 x BCU 2 x PDS (tech II) ------------------------------------------------
