Edited by: Dufas on 15/10/2006 09:43:46 This stupid feature isnt funny when your hauling in a indy trying to jump and there's rats popping your indy cause u cant freaking jump while there's ony 8 ppl in the next system and 3 in the current one....this 'feature' is insane..get rid of it
...maybe time for a .0 server and an empire server????? apparently all the new hardware from last year and every update and hot fix applied dont seem to work ..lagg is as bad as ever node crashes occure constantly and fleet battles are impossible to have __________

in geminate you have to stand in line when there is only you in a whole constellation. and that during lowtimes.

Implement working realtime loadbalancing and the ability to run a system on more than on node -> no queues needed!

Whilst I know and understand why they brought it in I can't profess to like it.
In fact tbh i hate it and yes it is somewhat farcical that you are held up jumping from 1 empty system to another empty system simply because the node happens to handle the static 750 escrow scammers in Jita.
Shame is that it seems to be getting worse. I think CCP might actually have to start planning a significant investment in additional hardware as the current server config is yet again struggling to cope daily with the workload. Perhaps try and buy enough hardware to get ahead of deman so that there is a substantial capacity rather than just enough. TPFM - The original Minmatar Terrorists. Podding Amarrians For Years! |

From Oveur's last blog:
Originally by: Oveur Yeah, as we mentioned before, we have boatloads of hardware coming, everything from the extreme RAMSAN to new network equipment and internet connections all affect the performance on Tranquility.
Not only that, we're always ordering something new and we don't always mention everything - but it's days like today which are fun to mention, because we have some big batches of hardware coming from IBM over the next months, resulting in more than 30 servers being added to Tranquility (that's 60 more nodes).
I just hope that's enough new kit to make a difference.

Which one of the two options do you think is easier to achieve? ;)
Not saying my suggestion doesn't involve some serious work...

might be until we hit 40k players cause once relavlations comes in u can expect press and antoerh massive growth in player numbers

From what I recall, the highest achieved number of qubits in experiments so far is 12... Gives you roughly the power of a digital calculator. The entanglement state is fiendishly difficult to maintain.
If you had a quantum processor with 100 qubits, you'd be able to perform more calculations _simultaneously_ (not per second) than there are atoms in the sun.
Which is a fair bit, when you think about it. Very well... Give him CAKE

Im not one for complantes but on a recent shopping trip to empire I was stopped at 2 0.0 gates for about 30-45 secs (just long enough to be ganked) and when I jumped in I was the only one in the next system.
I dont pretend to know anything about computer programming but I would think this would be a numero uno priority to sort out before any other peice of work got done. _______________________________________________

Last night was my first experience with this "feature". I had to wait at the login screen for ~15mins before i could even get into the game. 3 Other people in my system when i finally got in!

Queuing is not done based on solar system but rather on how loaded the node is. Many solar systems are managed by a single node (in no specific relation to jump distance, so a system you jump into from your previous might be controlled by a different node from the one you're on).
So even if you have only 8 ppl in the neighbouring system you are trying to jump into and are queued, it probably means there are like 500 people in 60 other solar systems managed by that node that are taking up all its resources.

I can live with the gate queues - I don't like them but so far they have only once caused me a major problem. With luck they will disapear with the new harware already mentioned.
One suggestion tho, when a gate goes into queue mode please take any gate rats away. Running thro lowsec in an executioner rigged for speed and stabbed - no cargo just travelling - 2 sansha cruiser rats right on the gate, "you are number 4 in queue", start to warp clear but take 2 lucky hits from the rats and I am in my pod, in bandit country, next to gate that doesnt like me.

I was using the freightor a few days ago - going from one empty system to another - and twice I wait on gate. And each time was straight after my scout entered without a queue. Its rather crazy these queues. --- Slot 10 Akemons Modified 'Noble'Zet 5000 implant +8% Armour FREE |

gate queues are a nice way to get killed in lowsec/0.0 . Should at least make it so you can choose to "go into the gate buffer while waiting" or whatever so you don't sit there like a retard.
