Hiya, Im looking into training up for a dred in the next few months, and im wondering which of the above to go for, as its such a big time investment. I have evenly balanced skills to go for either, but am mostly a sheild tanker. Had a look at the minnie dred and it looks like it could be either armor or sheild. Comments from the dred pilots plz?...

Anti Cap ship - Pheonix Anti POS - Naglfar
The Nagl armor tanks best, IMO, so the pheonix may be your best choice? ---

Probably the Phoenix in your case. The nag can be shield tanked, but it's generally armor tanked.
The Phoenix allows you to choose damage type, which is great vs POS. It's also quite a bit better vs other capships. Tanking-wise it doesn't really matter vs a POS. POS don't really dent a decent dread force anyway. -
- One ship to jam them all, one ship to damp them. One ship to suck them dry and in the dark void gank them. |

You forgot the #1 factor in POS sieging, lag
I personally think that armor tanking while taking on a POS is much better than shield tanking as if your shield booster gets stuck (or you lag like hell) while using it your cap will get drained pretty fast.
Then again you could set it to manual and I don't fly capital ships so don't take my advise for granted _____________________________

And how does the nagflar not allow you to chose dmg type. and while u can change dmg type with the phoenix you loose 25% dmg for anything other than kinnetic. Death-

While the citadels ofcourse allow you to choose damage, if you want to adjust damage on the arties you will have to make a slight compromise on damage output and even then it will always be a mix of at least two damage types. Practically speaking, this doesn't make a huge difference, but being able to exactly choose your damage type is one of the biggest pros to the phoenix. The damage bonus doesn't matter, it just offsets when you chose to fire another type of missile. -

the single best reason to not fly the nag is this, you have to train both weapons systems to level 5 (say hello to almost two months training). ----
