I've been playing long enough to be aware of the issues people have with the use of instas.
My idea in a nut shell is to introduce a 'drift' on the stargates. So every so often the gate will move by a few km - just enough to make those instas defunct, thereby allowing for a lot more fun for the underclasses of eve, and the rest of us.
It will make things harder for some admittedly but there's nothing stopping you from renewing instas.
The objective of this idea would be to increase the 'spacetime' for pilots, making them more vulnerable, or having little effect if they can be arsed to make new instas.

Pretty damn sure the whole limit-of-5-at-a-time-for-copying thing is enough punishment for those of us smart enough to use instas. ------------------------------------------------------------ "We that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak but not to please ourselves." - Romans 15:1 |

Interdictors. They are the answer to stopping instas, and also are a huge help in the prevention of NPC corp alternate characters in shuttles from coming into your space to spy on you.

Agreed, I think this is fair, but only if the distance to the gates is shorter than what is now.

The reality is that people will get from gate a to gate b, even if it involves using a bookmark. Who in their right mind is going to fly a freightor around 0.0 for more than a jump without some mechanisim to land on gate?
The devs are looking at a solution so lets see what happens. --- Slot 10 Akemons Modified 'Noble'Zet 5000 implant +8% Armour FREE |

I hope they keep everything as is. Instas are not used by everyone, and there are most certainly ways to stop someone using them. I already think it was kindof inconvenient to limit book mark copying, but it is a much better alternative than trying to make some sort of gate drift, which would realy do more harm than good. If you want to stop someone using instas, use mobile warp disruptors or even better, an interdictor. If anything else was used, gaining and holding any teritory would be next to impossible in 0.0, not to mention once someone got some teritory, noone else could ever claim it. It would ruin a lot of the teritory system that makes eve combat so unique. Instas are already solved and need no more tinkering.

OK, my 50 cent on this:
What about a Skill (called "Warping" or so) that reduces the distance from the Goal (Gate, Station, a Bookmark) by 3000 per Level (to "0" at Lvl 5) and a Skill with the same effect in leading Gangs ("Gang Warping" which needs "Warping" on Lvl 5) ?
That will decrease the Ammount of BM to a Minimum... I hope... |

It's been suggested many times before. It would be a pointless skill. Everyone would stop what they were doing to train this skill to 5 (because it would basically be a requirement to do anything in the game). You might as well just give everyone the ablity to warp to 0 because thats how it will be after a certain time if you gave them the skill.

Pirates and gate campers would love for CCP to remove instas at gates. Leave it as is. If one has the means to buy a set or take the time to make their own, why punish them? the game came with bookmarks for a reason.

Alternatively, you culd have the BMs shift by 10km or so each day. It wouldn't affect the "honest" uses of BMs (safe spots, POS locations, etc) but would make them pretty useless as instas.
My favourite anti-insta idea is to simply make it so that when you warp to a BM (or anything; gate, gang member, and so forth), you come out at 15km in any direction. So you might be lucky enough to come out 15km behind the BM, like you do now- or you might come out 15 km past it. or 15km above it. or 15km diagnolly down and left of it. Etc..
That keeps in line with the fluff that warpdrives are only accurate to within 15km, but stops people using instas.

That reason wasn't to make instas. They were a cunning loop-hole people found out about, allowing them to circumvent the games mechanics.

Personally I'm against anything that delebritly courrpts the bookmark data. As for if the stargates had an orbital movement, well you would think that your ships computer could also alter the bookmarks so that they stay stationary relative to that object.

15km in any direction is good. But you still know that you will appear on a sphere around the target, so lets make the distance random as well. So if your lucky, you could still come out right on top of the gate. Or just outside the gates activation range, but facing completly the wrong way.
For the warp to options that aren't withing 15km, just calculate the random distance/direction as if they were warping to a BM of where they currently come out of warp.
