Edited by: Seth Anrah on 16/10/2006 02:20:36 I'm having trouble trying to navigate fitting my Thorax for level 3 missions. I have level 3 hull mod, so I can't fit hardeners, but the next one down (~32%?)
Right now, I'm set for level 2 missions - rails + web.
Do I really need 1600mm plate? 500 power grid is alot. I do have T2 med repair and T2 ab.
I'm doing Gal Fed Navy missions, and want to do level 3. What do you suggest?

Edited by: welsh wizard on 16/10/2006 02:24:18 Although you can do level III's in a cruiser its generally a struggle (and rightly so). Level III's are the realm of the Battlecruiser.
Tell us more about your problem and perhaps someone can help you.
edit: Ok, you've edited your post with some info.
I'm not a Gallente pilot but straight away I'll say your problem is that you're aiming too high too soon. You should carry on doing level II's while training all the important mechanic (armour) and engineering (capacitor) skills to atleast level III or IV before attempting level III missions.
Alternatively train for a Brutix and you'll be able to hit above your weight a bit sooner.

Yeah, you can kinda do most of them in a thorax/vexor, but you need *GOOD* skills, otherwise you wont be able to fit the gun/tank needed, let alone run it for long enough.
Get/save up for a Brutix. ----------------

I'm having trouble getting damage down range. Even with over 5000 points in armour, I still have to run before I can get through their shields.
Is there some way I can do without the 1600mm armour to make room for bigger rails? Is there some way to do more damage with a Gallante cruiser that I'm not seeing?

Train the skills up?
How many sp do you have in gunnery?
The Thorax rarely has a problem kicking out damage unless you have very little in the way of Gunnery skills. Best thing to do is train every single gunnery skill to level III or IV (should take no longer than a week) then concentrate on training for tech II rails and blasters.

Yes. Use proper hardeners.
But even with 50% hardeners you wont be able to do the harder lvl3s in a cruiser, because youre missing a few million skillpoints.
Your life will be a lot easier in a BC, but you're still going to need to be able to use 50% active hardeners, T2 energized adaptives, the 2 cap skill at the very least @ 4 if not at 5, engineering/electronics 5. ----------------

Edited by: tarin adur on 16/10/2006 02:38:44 yeah it's possible, just it takes very high skills and generally a thorax shouldn't have a problem dealing dmg.
If you remove your plates/hardeners for bigger guns you'll be killed before they turn on . and life will be much easier using a brutix, and i assure(sp) that it can do lvl 3's without trouble

No offence but... with those sp, stick to 2s for a bit longer. ----------------

Train all of these to IV and you could start thinking about it.
You might be thinking "Surely a 5% bonus per level doesn't make that much difference?" This is what I used to think when I was new. Train your skills up and don't neglect your engineering and mechanic skills.
