IĈm currently running lev4 kill missions, and am looking for something new.
Can some one tell me how I get an R+D agent? What do I need to do to get an R+D agent, what are the advantages of this type of agent, and will I need to re-skill in order to use one.
What will this type of agent give me as reward?

To get an R&D agent you need to have the science skills listed in their info at the level of the agent. Then you can perform research which earns you research points. Currently it's broken afaik, but the system used to be that when you're doing research, once a day the agent would offer you a mission that would double that day's RP gain. No LP gain.
You can only have one R&D agent active, plus one per level of Research Project Management.
RPs get used in lotteries for tech 2 BPOs but currently there are no BPOs seeded. With the upcoming Revelations expansion patch, they may seed more BPOs.
With Revelations, there'll also be a way to spend RP for the tools / parts needed for invention. Invention produces poor-quality (high production costs/time) tech 2 BPCs when successful (for whichever item's tech 1 BPC you did invention on).

As an additional note, if you want a break from kill missions and are looking for non-combat/courier agents, at least such divisions as Archives, Distribution, Manufacturing, Production and Storage should offer about 95% couriers.

In-game. Do a 'Show Info' on the R&D corps, open the 'Agents' tab, then click open the R&D division.

Ok, let me back up for a moment. How do I find a list of Research Corps?
If it matters I do missions for Caldari and Amarr.

You do not need to have the same level of the Science Field skill as the agent, I have confirmed this twice with a couple of agents I have recently taken. Level 1 of Caldari Starship is enough, for example, for an agent that has Level 4. The higher the agent skill the more RP you'll gain though.

Don't remember them all. Lai-Dai is one caldari R&D corp. You can look for the rest yourself. Do a 'Show Info' on the factions (e.g. Caldari) and open the tab which lists all the corps in that faction. Then go through all the corps and check if they have a R&D division. There are three R&D corps per faction.
