im training for a cerb right now so i can be a proper mission *****, but someone tells me that a navy caracal may be just as good. cant find any stats on one, so does anyone know if this is true or not?

It isn't. The DPS isn't up to much. The resists are crap.
2 low slots REALLY isn't worth it.

If you can be online right now, just do show info on a Caracal, open the Variations tab and check out the stats on the Navy Caracal; you can also look me up, look at my bio and click on the faction ships link... or you could look at http://www.redsector.org.uk/eve/ships/caracal_navy_issue/
I've never flown one but I doubt it would be as good as a Cerberus (lower resists, not as many bonuses), and the Cerb will still be cheaper, if more skill-intensive.

You are mistaken. In general faction frigs and cruisers arn't as good as T2 ships, but are highly priced due to the pimpage/rarity factor.

I'm pretty sure that he meant that the Navy Caracal isn't worth the extra money for 2 low slots extra over a normal Caracal.

I know that Faction ships are overpriced T1 toys, but I was talking about the resistances there ... as far as I know, the Cerberus doesn't have any resistance bonuses ...
And the offers were toned down, 100K LPs and 30 millions for a 1-run BPC is not too hard to get, after all ...

It has caracal resists, not cerberus resists. It also has 33% less DPS (thanks to the ROF bonus of the cerb). In fact, it only improves over the caracal in HP (negligible) and those 2 low slots. Hence: 2 low slots really isn't worth it.

It also has another high slot, although it's for a turret rather than another missile launcher. It's basicaly a slightly better Caracel but when you factor in the price it's not very good after all.

Consider the Navy Issue much better than the standard Caracal - it's really good... Cerberus is however better and doesn't cost much more than NI Caracal... if you have the isk and have to wait a while for Cerberus, it's a nice purchase!!
