Lets say you are moving ships, then you dock with your new ship and you cant undock to get your other ships because its 'illegal' to undock in a pod/exit your ship at station.
I see no reason for it to be like that.
Also, why cant we get a proper buddy list. Sort people in different folders without having all of them stored in the main 'buddy folder'.
It would make my day if you implemented this in kali ?

Edited by: Norris Neophitus on 17/10/2006 15:15:17 Buddy list is driving me crazy i can't even move people from my main folder anymore as i can drag scroll and drop as all that does is leave a portait floating on my screen. All it takes is actually cut and paste instead of copy and paste.
all the buddies would still be there just in different folders. I've been playing long enough that i have more than a screens worth of buddies and people that need killing and ppl i owe favours people that i can ask for a favor. This needs a tweak.
As for pod undocking i guess it has something to do with insurance and how it generates noobs ships or something. I dont get it either though shuttles are cheap enough it doesnt really matter

But you wont get noob ship/innsurance unless your ship actually gets destroyed? I just moved a ship 10 jumps in deep space and I lolled when I saw that the nearest shuttle were 8 jumps away.

You can undock with a pod, your just not trying hard enough.
Click and hold the undock button for 600 seconds and then it will undock....honest!

Someone recently posted that you could eject out of your ship just as the Docking Request is accepted, thereby putting your ship in dock and leaving you outside in your pod.
Whether this is true or not, I don't know, as I haven't tried it yet.

Clone jumping to a station where you have no ships, gives you a nice new noob ship
You could allways try the old way of getting into your pod, if it still works.
get 10km or so from station, right click dock, and just as the message pops up saying your docking eject from current ship. your ship goes into your hanger, and your left in space in your pod.
havnt tried this in a while, so you may not want to risk it with a nice ship

I heard the dock eject trick was fixed a while back now.
Thought you got a noob ship when you got podded aswell as wehn you ship get toasted.
Believe me i know the feeling about the shuttles being miles away it is annoying but you could always just eject and abandon your ship somewhere no one will look in deep space. You get a noob ship whenever your pod is docked in a station where you did not already have a ship. If you don't have a ship where your clone is, you'll get a noob ship when you get podded. If you do, you won't.

Edited by: Peter Stuyvesant on 17/10/2006 16:04:48 I did the eject while docking trick last night, still works. I prefer to do it with cheap ships though ;-)
1. Be 5km from the station, hit dock 2. R-click your ship and hit eject, don't click ok yet 3. The moment you see 'Your docking request has been accepted', click ok on the eject confirmation.
Sometimes it makes your overview go a little weird so hit tab a couple of times to refresh it.
edit: heh, I wrote almost exactly what someone wrote a few posts above me...reading ftw

The dock/ejact still works if youtime it right.
To reorganise your buddy list: double click on the main folder (this will open it in a new window); select your destination folder in the old buddy window; select your buddy in the new popup window and drag to the destination folder.
This trick works for agents as well.

Or...
1: Plan a head and take a load of shuttles there first.
2: Get a cheap shuttle BPO and make them there if there are production facilities. You probably can sell them for good isk as well. You have found a demand screaming for a supply.
3: Self-destruct your pod to end up back in your insurance clone... more expensive but definately the fastest alternative.

Does anyone else think that being able to select the colour of the 'online' symbol would be a good idea?
Recently i have had to add war targets to my buddy list so i know when they're online and i can see qickly if they are in system but when real buddies are there aswell it can get a little confusing.

God I hope not Using the buddy list to know when enemies are on or offline is a cheesy tactic anyway. Especially it's ability to tell you when they're in system. Yeah... it's useful... I'll admit it. But cheesy nonetheless.

The enemy list was just an example, it could also be useful to distinguish corp members, random people, people with NAP's etc

If you dock in your pod at a station, you can undock in your pod again if you dont get into a ship.
So its not explicitly not possible. But yea, I hate having to waste a shuttle whenever i want to pod myself back to empire, or keep collecting shuttles when i want to move a bunch of ships a few jumps. Shuttles can be a little pricey out in 0.0, or hard to find, and not every ship can carry them, with you.
seems like alot of trouble as a work around.

How 'bout a system where we can stick a symbol on a player in local, similar to the buddy list's green square. Since I'm kinda involved in some hostilities at the moment, it is very nice to flag people as "enemy" for quick counting in local. Currently, buddy list is the only way.
