I am a new-comer to the game, been playing about 2.5 months now, and one thing that bugs me, is that the only way to get any kind of leg up on the leveling in the game, is to buy a seasoned character from someone.
I would like to see a second set of skill books seeded into rat loot, these books will cost significantly more than the old books (because they will need to be gathered and traded on the market or through escrow) but allow you to learn a skill faster than the normal books. leave the current books in, for people who are not interested.
personally, I would pay 6 to 10 times what a normal book costs, just to cut the training from 1-5 in half. especially with many skills easily going over a month IRL to train from 4-5
It seems like I can always buy better ships and equipment than I will ever be able to pilot.

So you'd release books more expensive to make noobs catch on vets? Nice move! Only that... from where will come the money for these books? And, if one character can another can do it too, even if it's three years old.
No, the way to compete is to learn how to be good with what you have. Training smart you can outdo most players in few months.
Having said that, I think that your idea is one step above the tipical "xp grind plz" that is expressed once a month, so there's a cookie for you

It isnt about noobs catching vets, because obviously the vets will be able to use this system also. it is about allowing people with the means to accelerate their development, the ability to do so. the money for these books comes from all over the place, and is no concern of mine.
I am posting here because I always seem to have at least 100m just sitting around doing nothing, and I would gladly give it up to be able to train faster.

I think it would be cool to have "abridged" skillbooks, that train 50% faster but only go up to level 3. I fyou want level 4 or 5, you've got to start over with a proper book.
