Why would you add streamlining to a hull shape that isn't, and can never be considered as streamlined? It's an oxymoron. It's like adding streamlined shoulder pads to a hulking gorilla. Streamlined shoulder pads may work on a bear in hot pants, but not on a damn gorilla.
The Caldari are about business and the Caracal had a bit of a bruiser look going for it. The New Coke Caracal looks a tad too dandified... Let's just punt and make it a new Mordus Legion hull instead, m'kay?

Let's see the finished product before we pass final judgement (they were having problems with their demo application during the presentation). I think it's going to look awesome, however.

I am not sure that the new caracal looks very caldari, the thin looking parts and the flat surfaces make it look like some other race, something that the Moa came very close too as well, though it's bulk probably saved it a little.
At least to me, I really prefer the elements they have for ships like the Rohk, Naga and Corax. The Moa and this newer Caracal just look different. And I always liked how in EVE each race's ship have very tight design language defining them as a part of the same group... |

A redesign it needed, turned into a shiny and smooth version of the same ship it did not. If those images are the actual ones presented by ccp they look an awe full lot like something someone cooked up in their basement on a walmart graphics program. -1
For gods sake reduce the severity of that broken neck look and reign in those pointless vertical wings. Either add some angle and reduce the length a little or beef them up and clip them.
A caldari warhip ship not evoke images of this...

I can't imagined this hasn't been addressed, and I just bought a Caracal yesterday, Gallente here. I always thought the Caracal was cool, but I always thought the nose was the tail. Big beefy shoulders in the front with the tail, whoops, the Caracal flies the opposite way with a needlenosed beak, lame. Thing is fugly. Propel it in the opposite way, it would be badass. |
