Ok, i've tried manually searching for a relevant thread, but I really can't find one. (This forum desperately needs a search function!).
So a simple question hopefully:
How do I access the test server (singularity), I do try with my normal log on but it denies me access?
Apologies if this is a common problem,
Pol

last time i tried it...
i had a mirror image of the tranquality server from a couple of months ago... so i could logon on tranquality but not the testserver because my account wasn't active at that time.
so maybe this is still the problem and you're account can't access the testserver... another option is that the server is set to only accept (beta)testers with the upcomming release of kali.
hope it helped :D _________________________________ Banner is being replaced with Gentilitas Canis Venatici info :D |

You need to wait for another mirror with your account details to be uploaded to that server.
One should be coming next week, when Kali gets uploaded to the test server. --------------------------

The database on the test server is a several month old copy of TQ. This means that if you didn't have an active account then, you can't log on. If you are a new character, this is definitely why you can't get in.
Once Kali is put on the test server Sisi, a new mirror of TQ's database will be copied over and you should be able to access it then, provided your account is active. Be aware, though, that I think the trial account 14 day limitation also copies over. Once a new patch is made for the test server, there will be an announcement for anyone that still can't connect (and has a valid account) to ask for access rights to test Kali.
Kali is due by the end of next week for public testing.
Sisi is never closed to "official" testers only, except during debugging. Instead, the Devs and Bug Hunters get access to the hidden Chaos and Entropy servers for internal testing.

Unfortunately, CCP will never seed the new ships until (maybe never) the last phase of testing. They don't want hundreds of people logging in to play with ships - they want them using the new features so the programing bugs get squished. Yes, we can say that CCP has released ships before that still needed a bit of work in the balancing department, but that pales in comparison to the amount of work and risk associated with buggy code.
We need to test the tools first, toys second.

it has one :P top right hand corner is a thing that says "Search" now I know its not a great search feature, but its there :P
As for logging onto sisi or singularity or chaos or whatever its called these days! if its running a different client number you'l need to copy your eve folder (and all subfolders) and then install the test patches - found i believe through a link in the patch section of this website. (or here )
If you are a new player you may not have a character on singularity because the sever is only mirrored every few months.

The last time I tried to login to the test server (which I must admit was many months ago) it said I had an incompatible client. How do I connect to the test server with a client that is ok for TQ but not for Singularity? Do I have to install 2 versions of EVE?
I bet somewhere along the line I have missed something really obvious...

You mean like following the links to the left. EVE Download -> EVE Patches -> Test Patches... It explains on this page why you want (need) to have two copies of EVE to use the test server. To install the send copy just duplicate the folder C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE
