Anyone have a decent way to keep Kittens from attacking the monitor when sat on my lap?
It's quite irritating to have Cinders, teh Uber k1tt3n, paw the ships on screen, nudge the mouse and walk over the keyboard when I'm typing (Probably think she's being helpful....).
Does it no matter the game. >.<
So, any ideas on how I can stop her doing this? I'm too soft to push her away or hurt her though.

The only way I found was to get some bitter bite (the same stuff that stops them chewing wounds and furniture)on a cloth and wipe the monitor surround, the smell puts them off.

Wash your hands and also the computer with soap (must be a plain soap, without parfume), cats and dogs hate the smell... Do the same for all furniture u want to sav from stratches!
Another way is drinking coffee and then (without washing ur mouth) blow in to the face of the little irritator, gently.
But I think the most reasonable way is the wool ball thing since she/he is still very young (as u told) and wants to play all the time.
PS: A photo would be great, for further analysis ofcourse, maybe CCP brings out a patch to fend of house pets

With some work, you can train her to lay on top of the monitor... it's nice and warm and she'll have a nice high view of the room. everytime she jumps up, just put her up there.... eventually she'll get the idea...

While I'm sure a kind carebear type person would say buy catnip or put her somewhere safe its clear the PK Pirate suggestions are the funniest. About all they haven't mentioned is shoving kitty in the microwave.

There's a herb you can buy - I think it's called Rue, or something along those lines.
Rub that on places you don't want Kitty to go, and you wouldn't be able to drag her there if she was chained to the Land Rover. They HATE that stuff.

oh man, thats some serious **** right there, my friend. - beats my 'soggy chocolate biscuit over the keyboard' escapade anyway..
the only similar problem I've had is when my cat used to climb on my shoulder whilst I played cs.. and would usually end up sitting on my head - My violent reaction to its claws in my skin was usually enough to throw it clear of the computer >;)

Generally I just turn on the gas fire. The moggy lies down in front of it and promptly goes into gas fire coma. You can even drag him about by his hind legs and he doesn't twitch.
I figure the heat puts him into a deep sleep or we have a serious carbon monoxide problem

Though no longer kittens, my two cats are kept busy by taping strings with small toys attached to my computer desk.
Either free the slaves or we will come and get them.
