dunno what people would think about the idea of wormholes? basicly, there jump gates that are hidden, but travel u a massive distance across the map, like saving 15-30 jumps. lets face it, i personally get bored outa my brain doing big jumps like that, & something like this would improve it. it worked for a similar type of game, but im not gonna say what as im not an advert . anyway would be intereted what people thought about this idea, as i would love to see it in the game. ___________________________________

A couple of wormholes spread out in the eve universe... jump ways not to be able to see in map or using by autopilot. YOU must know it is there to use it.
But the idea is good.

Yeah since u can sell "bookmarks" on the market the location of a wormhole would go for billions of ISK, make the career "explorer" more lucrative.
Nice thinking there...

A very good idea, also gives a whole new range of oppertunites for the ppl who are in the know :) such as smuggling routes, infiltration into alliance space etc
I have the body of a supermodel. I just can't remember where I left it... |

Support the Alternative market proposition. Clicky clicky. |

ooh!
thats a very cool idea :)
Whati would also love is to make the map expandable and limit what people get on the map.
too much information.
i had hoped that explorers would have to map out those gates etc... and that you would be able to update your map with that information.
so a newbie gets the map links (and able to plot autopilot) only in their starting region. for anything else they have to have made a bookmark in the system in question - so either have to visit the system themselves, or have to buy a bookmark off someone.
<shrug> too late for my idea - but the wormhole idea is BRILLIANT -----

In the late stages of the beta Jove space was accessible through a wormhole located in empire space... should be ingame within the next 6 months at the pace we're goeing

Bounce
I must admit the idea of wormholes would make traveling easier. But I think is idea could be adapted in one other way that would radically change the current game dynamics: un-fixed wormholes.
Currently all jump-gates are fixed on at least one end, where the jump gate is located. What if the enterance and/or exit to wormholes could be unfixed, changing systems every few hours but staying in the same region/const/etc. Given the distance a wormhole could take you, it could drop you into rim or empire space in one shot without the enterance being easily camp-able. Granted every time a hole opened up, their would be a mad rush to 'plug' it but would it not be interesting to see whom could profit from such an occurance?
Just my two cents. Flame away.

I'm sure the technology behind the jumpdrive will be something along the lines of utilizing fluctuating wormholes for long distance jumps.
Repeat it and it will be so.

The center of each galaxy hosts a super-massive black-hole (it's true). This can be a justification to developp some applied technology. |

So basically the feeling of it all going down the drain is the right one.

I would rather see one side of a worm hole that is stable, the other side that is not stable that jumps to different locations on a weekly basis. I agree that the autopilot should not be able to set a course through it. Just a thought though would make wormholes a new event every week for those that know about them. From Ashes to Ashes... From Dust to Dust....
