Greetings,
Now, sit tight, but I'm pretty sure I heard that during the Game Design panel speech yesterday, one of the devs said that Nullsec would be getting some new type of rocks that would yield ALL of the materials required for the construction of most ships in proportion to their requirments.
Meaning: Same asteroids yielding both base ores and high-end. Also talked about - the removal of base ores like Veldspar from nullsec completely.
Am I imagining this, or is this the case?
Full March 19th Fanfest Day 1 stream can be viewed here: http://www.twitch.tv/ccp/b/638754943
I am trying to locate that particular presentation.

Elaborate. Because I see it as dynamic - more production in null - more trade hubs there, leading to more minerals reserved for the Empire space -> cheaper ships & modules = Equals more PVP.

From the perspective "I have all I need right here, no need to do anything else.". Sounds more like a "skeleton key" type of resource.

Which is perfectly fine, considering the risks and logistics involved.
Sov will be ping-ponged a lot in the new system, so don't view it as a safe haven which will be built upon.
Many moons ago, the Delve region was the most desirable people of real estate due to its moon resources - All of Eve converged on it, resulting in the destruction of Band of Brothers.
I'm expecting the same this time around, especially, when various 0.0 regions won't by in sync with respect to resources: Make only 3-5 regions the most desirable under the new ore system, among other things, and you will have EVE on fire.
Disclosure: I don't live in Nullsec. Can't say I'm not planning to. |

As long as they're not available in every region and system it seems fine, although it should be a a totally random and not predetermined occurrence.

Oh that's for certain, the devs can make a few random number generator rolls as to which regions get 'em and then settle on a permanent configuration/distribution that would go live on TQ, which would provide the most dynamic player content. |

I've never been interested in the history, demographics and geology of that area due to dddrone loot mainly and secondly due to the distance from the Galactice core Empires relative to other Nullsec.
Tell me, though, how many Drone regions are there in total? Five, Seven? Let's say that the two of these get VERY lucrative resources - now that's fun.
Edit: Current Sov holdings map - http://go-dl1.eve-files.com/media/corp/verite/influence.png ; Coalitions map - http://go-dl1.eve-files.com/media/corp/coalitionsov/Coalitioninfluence.png
My proposal for the 5 uber regions: just One in the North, One in the South, Two in the East, One in the West.

It is a bit early to get excited about it since there isn't anything definite enough to analyze. In my part of null, mex is the limiting factor for producing things. It was also the limiting factor when corps I was in were located in Fountain and Immensea. I find it interesting that I'm usually mining Kernite, Jaspet, Hedbergite and Hemorphite out in nullsec. |

to correct the transcript a little, it was CSM Mynnna, (not miners)
The idea is to rebalance the ores available, to adjust where the bottlenecks are.
Right now, nullsec production seriously bottlenecks on the lower end ores (mid end? you know what I mean) Which has people mining the highends for export, over producing, and tanking that market. Which has problems for the values of those ores.
I'd like to see larger changes happen, but those would require a relatively significant time investment, so not soon.

I haven't watched the talk on nullsec Sovreignty yet but I doubt CCP would want to have sufficient availability for all the minerals in null, low, high, and WH systems. It would as another pointed out potentially cause stagnation and would go against the risk and conflict driver principles.
I can see why you think they would do that as it would placate the nullsec community but whether it would be good in the long term is doubtful.

And yet Nullsec were able to produced all those Titans? There is no bottleneck, perhaps they could use some of those minerals used in building 'unique' titans for more standard ships instead. |

Why CCP wishes to nerf highsec mining is a mystery to me. I guess those highsec miners isk/hr is just too high.
There you go, my professional analysis as to why mining in null space should be a lot more profitable than anywhere else:

Hmm. I watched the replay via Twitch TV of Fozzies talk on Sov changes. Looks like I was wrong and CCP have capitulated . I guess, or hope, they know what they are doing.

Completely agree.
Have you any thoughts on Lowsec mining? In my travels I've encountered a few mining corporations in Kor-Azor, Khanid regions - they specialise in mid-ends, which in my opinion, is going to be the place to be in the future if one lives in Empire space.
Some shakeup in the form of pirate eviction and increased escort would have to happen to such regions, however. Aridia, Khanid, Genesis and other non-FW regions aren't exactly safe to mine in at the moment. |

Hello, ladies und gentlemen.
The following is reiteration by CCP Fozzie on yesterday's o7 Show on Fanfest Nullsec Mining presentation, along with very relevant information regarding this whole shebang.
Starts at minute 21:00 - http://www.twitch.tv/ccp/popout?videoId=a644494144
CCP Fozzie wrote:So it's more profitable... so that you don't need to ship in lowends, and you won't have such access of high ends, that drop the price. We want to give a similar ratio of minerals in nullsec to what you would use to do all the building.
...
We're updating composition ratio of existing ABC ores and every existing ore in nullsecks.
and,
CCP Fozzie wrote:We need to actually catch up some of the industry in Eve to match the original goals for the consumption of minerals - one of the things that has been slowing down in nullsecks mining, is that the consumption of high ends - Megacyte and Zydrine wasn't as high as originally intended to be relative to everything else.
So, actually in our end of APRIL patch we are going to be, with a couple of small exceptions, doubling the usage of Megacyte and Zydrine in every blueprint in the game that has any of those.
Uncel Dolan sends his regards.
