The odd thing here is that I have spoken to many PvP players and pirates.
As I do alot of 0.0 ops I quite often run into them in the bottlenecks in and out of empire space.
Those are the real pirates, they constantly have to contend with pirate hunting corps and acording to them they loose ships quite often.
Thise are the real pirates, they would love for there to be more activity out in 0.0 as that would increase their chance for profit.
Then we have the empire pirates, the ones that hang out in high sec space and hunt newbies and industrials and constantly complain on all the nerfing happening to the game. Most of the ones I have chatted with from this category have used abusive language and called me a coward and much worse for not wanting to try to run a gatecamp with my hoarder... thise are not PvP players they are PK:ers and carebear PK:ers at that.
Alot of posts have been made on the subject, thise CBPK (CareBear PK:ers) want to be able to go anywhere they want and kill anyone they want and there should be no negative effect for them, remove concorde, remove 10 sec invuln, remove sentry guns... they dont want PvP they want a shooting gallery and they want you to be the plastic duck, only difference they want you to play for 10 days and put all you collected over that period in your duck and then let them shoot you.
Not gona happen.
I have full respect for the real PvP players, I hope to be able to join them once I have a sound financial situation, atm Im busy building up my corp with my corp mates.
Naturally my post will fall on deaf ears with the people that would most benefit from reading it.
Naturally there are extremes in both ends of the scale, there are some that would rather EvE was a pure PvE game, just as the CBPK players thise are wrong too, this game needs the PVP element but personally I think CCP should try to encourage players to go out into 0.0 space where PvP should take place, ALL piracy should take place in 0.0.
The problem is most players dont have to go out there, with all the "secret" spawnpoints inside the empire where you can find the biggest NPC pirates and the best loot spawning in forsaken stockpiles, why go into 0.0 space?
For high end ore, sure but as you only need that for personal manufacture why bother with risking all.
If you do the match you make a better profit from mining and selling veldespar in secure space than you do mining bistot in 0.0
why? because you have to haul the bistot, usually 20+ jumps to a station to refine it risking to loose the whole shipment, then you have to haul the refined minerals to the sale point, again risking all.
With veldespar all you have to do is mine in secure space, haul it in to the closest station, refine and sell where you are.
So if we want PvP to atart working, clean out most of the points of interest from secure space, place the high value pirates in 0.0 place the best loot spawn containers in 0.0 and have them move about, dont let people farm forsaken stockpiles.
once it empties let it poof, and the whole place respawns in a different system even.
To make it worth explorers work put them on rotating lists and have one ship named so as to allow them to conect the dots.
