I was just wondering about what factors affect how quicky you can warp out (?). Not warp-speed, but how long it takes to get into warp-speed. Thanks for replying.

There are two major factors in warp out speed - alignment time (facing the direction you want to warp) and reaching warp speed.
Warp speed is 3/4s of your maximum speed, so acceleration is key. If your ship's mass is small enough, then afterburners will help you accelerate faster (not just maximum speed), but otherwise they won't help. Webbers can also help you achieve warp out speed.
Aligning to warp is based off your ship's agility and mass and is more important for larger ships.
Spaceship Command, Advanced Spaceship Command, Evasive Manuvering and fitting nanofibres will help you align faster. There are also hardwirings that improve ship agility.
I also believe not fitting cargo expanders will improve your agility and help you align faster.

AB and MWD increase inertia so you don't really want to turn them on until after you are aligned, particularly on a big ship. On a small ship, it doesn't much matter.

AB and MWD also increase your maximum speed, so activating them would make your time to warp longer.

So if you have your AB or MWD turned on, you should turn them off before commencing a warp?

Yeah, but if you need to warp out quickly, it will still be quicker to warp with them on rather than waiting for them to disengage :P

MWD/AB also increase your acceleration so what you said is BS. With my MWD/AB on I'm faster hitting my 75% needed to warp then without them. And yes I have tested it multiple times.

If your acceleration is increased by an AB or MWD, I guess it¦s related to the "thrust" attribute on the propulsion modules? Anyone know the math behind this (how "thrust" relates to the mass addition)?

In regards to aligning, if you spend any amount of time stationary at a location but need to be able to leave in a hurry when you decide to (read: you are mining in an area where you can get ambushed at a moment's notice), you should align your ship beforehand so that the deciding factor is reduced to just acceleration. |

As I said in my post, whether an AB/MWD helps you achieve warp out velocity is very much dependent on your ship's mass and the thrust provided by the speed booster.
Read the bottom of Afterburners and Microwarpdrives for the exact details.
