I'm all for longer fleet battles and all, but do you have to screw up EVERYTHING else just to do it? Here's a list of what will get #@$#ed up with the patch.
1) Alpha strike; you might as well just flush all artillery down the toilet. I mean it's the only thing artillery and long-range minmatar still have going for em.
2) Cap usage; Running out of cap will just screw everything up. Cap boosters for starters will lose effectiveness with longer battles because of cargo limitations. Cap usage will become even more importaint "especially a nerf to 20km warp disruptors due to cap usage"
3) Passive shields; With the larger Shield HP and longer recharge time at first glance it seems like nothing would change. However shields will last longer during that last 40% of shields left will have an exponential effect on shields, plus without cap usage "see above" Passive tanks will increase in power an ubsurd amount.
4)Gurilla, and Solo Operations; Longer battles means more time for friendlies to arrive during solo and gurilla operations behind enemy lines. What's the point in even trying to kill the people who fail to watch local if no matter what you do they'll live long enough for friends to arrive and gank you?
I mean it'll just screw everything up and for what? Fleet battles in which lag is only thing that REALLY must be fixed? Not broken don't fix it.

And no I dont fight in fleet battles cos they, erm suck donkey balls and dont work. ---------------------------

Battles have got to last long enough for one of those dramatic music pieces that the in-game player can play to finish. I mean, 3:30 or so on average, and your ship blows up during the crescendo finale.
Make battles feel epic!

For the record, I did read the post, and I agree with you, and I was making fun of THEM for wanting to make battles longer, but feel free to flip out again if it suits you.

There is no way to increase fleet battle times.
Shrinking gang size makes no odds with TS. Just means 10 gangs of 10 rather than 1 gang of 100. It would make it more interesting from a command & control perspective, but not much.
More hit points? - utterly pointless. So quadruple the hit points on a well tanked BS, and it will take 1.5 volleys from fleet rather than 1. Quadruple points also means you turn BS into ships you cannot kill without a few BS (back to the old days).
Degrade gang damage depending on number in gang? See the point about gang size.
If CCP even try to do something more complicated than the above, then players will get round it.
The points the OP made have utterly no relationship with fleet battles.
If you are called primary, you are dead.
No amount of hitpoint boosting/damage nerfing will alter that by one iota. It takes 20 ships rather than 10? so bring 20.
Tweaking will not alter this.
Unless you give us all 1mill hp and we all spend hours to kill one ship.
We've all had to do the POS shooting thing, please don't make ships into POS

I might help alleviate suicide ganking/insurance exploiters by making it possible for the target to make it to the gate, or allowing time for Concord to do their job.
That was the very first thing that came to my mind.
Also longer battles might help level the playing field a bit between older players and newer ones. It remains to be seen if that will be an outcome though.

for that i'd rather see cargo scanning as a concordable offense, i mean it only makes sense really. but back on topic if we can.

It will make no difference at all to high sec ganking - you just bring a few more ships.
Longer battles will disadvantage low SP players against high SP players. The higher the base stats, the bigger actual increase from percentages.

Dumus all more HP will do in small fights is make the people with more #'s win.Sence the smaller force will run out of cap that much faster.Also people will lean toward gank/plate setups now.
This also totaly screws over ships with a active tanking bonus(brutix,cyclone). ---

Shut up with the Alpha Strike allready. Instapoping is boring. I didn't hear any of you ppl complain when 1400mm t2 were t3h ub3r wepon and most of ppl were flying the Tempest. Shut your yap holes and adapt damn it. I survived each patch NONE nerfed me. It just made me change tactics.
God damn it I hate lazy ppl who want the "put as much as you can dmg mods" **** back. Use your brain for once.

The problem is no one pays attention to the scale of EVE.
A ship thats the size of my neighborhood and a skyscraper high, shouldnt blow up in a few seconds of enemy fire. Even more so to Battleships and bigger. A ship that is a KILOMETER long and higher than 3 eiffel towers shouldn't be destroyed in 10 seconds of battle... It just does not make sense.
...although you probably could've just done a barrel roll. ***

It makes loads of sense. 3 Eiffel towers? right now the whole of Paris can be vapourised with one well aimed 100Mt nuke. I mean completely annihilated down to ground level. ALL of it.
A well armed BS should be able to destroy the surface of a planet. If it is not taking return fire.
A fleet of BS shouldn't take longer than 1 second to destroy another BS.

Actually, despite the facts its probably the 100th post on the topic it raises valid issues.
Heres another. Aggro timers and sentry tanking.
Dock-undock hereos or fights ending when a person uses his massive tank to jump out.
What about people tanking sentries, proportionally easier now, no?
See, it's not just about alpha strike etc etc. It has more far reaching implications to the way the gaem will be played. I'm not convinced the dev's have considered tweaking the bits around it yet.

Either way, we do need longer fights. And I'm sure the Devs are open to any suggestions to how to increase the time of fights. So fill your post with suggestions on how to increase the time of fights, so more stragedy can be added, don't post "waaa, me no like, waaa", and devs wil listen.

1) Alpha strike my ass. Arti's just got the biggest boost ever. No cap use is the win button.
2) Hmm tackle, is that the sme as hold for 10 minutes? Cap boosters, emergency capboost button, not as u make it sound as a permanent increase in cap recharge.
3) No passive tank can stand in PvP, however in PvE caldari just had a great boost. Downside will be the greater shield and recharge rate on NPC.. so mission will take a bit longer I guess, if u go out solo.
4) So u wanna tell us that little bit more natural shield recharge and tad more HP will make it hard for the guerrilla squats to kill that specific tanked ratter or mining barge. Solo, nothing will change, just will take a bit longer to kill.
Lag.. has nothing to do with above. 10 new nodes and a ransam might help a bit tho.
Guess the one who will adjust best, will win.
