Personally, I hate mining. It's boring as heck. I just run missions. But for the sake of "completeness", there really should be some form or ORE-designed ship that is the "mining+tanking" equivalent of the battlecruisers (with ability to fit mindlinks too), and even a fleet command version that equips up to 3 links and gets a % bonus to the 3 mining links.
As for flight requirements... use Mining Barge L3 + Battlecruisers for first one... and Exhumer L3 + Commans Ships for the second. I guess a more cargo-oriented bonus would be nice (say, something insane like "-10%/-15% per level to unrefined material cargo size") and a base cargo in the 5k range for BC version and 10k range for the command version. __ Always question everything. you clearly haven't seen a hulk... that is a shield tank, for one, for two no barge pilot would use a laser point for a mind-link...a hulk already has 8km3 cargo... So where are you even comming from? if mind links are needed then a miner's guard would use a bc or command ship or field command and use a mindlink for mining while their all in the gang.

Why not run a BC or CS with your mining op? You sacrifice some strips (for 7 miners in the case of the Eos, best miner CS), but get all your roid warfare links to run.
Worth it with a decent mining op.

Sounds like you're talking about a hulk. Mining? Check. Tanking? Check. Big cargo hold? Check. Mindlinks? Ok, it doesnt have that.

if three mod strip miners is only 60 each and another high point is made would you do a mind link or put another mod strip there and gain possible 1500 ore per cycle for each new high point!so think about it, which is worth more?

The ORE battlecruiser / command ship would NOT be able to fit stripminers, but it would have some turret slots so it could fit regular mining lasers (or regular weapons, but it would get no bonus for any "normal" weapon system). I was thinking along the lines of 5 highslots / 4 turret hardpoints for the BC version, and 7 highslots / 4 turret hardpoints for the command version. The usual 25 m^3 dronebay will do fine for both versions.
As for bonuses, BC version gets a BC-skill bonus pack of "-10% per level to ore size in cargo and -10% per level to mining laser cycle time"
For the command version keep the same bonus and add for Command Ship skill "-10% per level to ore size in cargo and 3% per level bonus to Mining Link effectiveness".
Both get a static -99% CPU for links, and command ship gets 3 link slots instead of just one. __
Mining-wise, with all skills maxed out at L5, both versions get to mine just as fast as any 8-turret battleship, but the BC version holds 2 times more ore than it would hold anything else, while the command version hods 4 times as much ore as any other cargo, and can run the 3 mining links at +15% effectiveness.
A regular "mining battleship" could outmine both of them, but a battleship would have to rely on haulers (these would have a lot less to worry about this specific part, or even act as mini-haulers, but only for unprocessed ore).
Any other battlecruiser could assist with mining link(s), but it would fare worse at mining then the BC version (and not able to be used as "spare hauler"). And finally, there are 4 T2 BCs (fleet command versions) that each has a 3% bonus to one type of links. There are no ships with that bonus for the miner links. Here's where this T2 ORE BC comes into play.
As I was saying, just for completenes' sake, nothing else. __ Always question everything. Including yourself. |

Battlecruisers and Command Ships are 100% gang oriented, comparing their effectiveness to a solo BS mining doesn't apply. The current command ships out there fully capable of tanking a spawn, fitting mining links, and adding a little extra ore to the mix with their remaining turret slots. I use one a BC in all of my mining ops, and will eventually drop it for a CS and trade the tanking BS for another exhumer. While I wouldn't complain if they decided to add one, I don't think it's necessary or worthwhile. The time spent training would be better spent on a Combat oriented CS.

first so far this idea is kinda a lost cause as it's weaker then what we have, for two I have to ask what did you want out of this for miners. You can min in a BC, a sommand link only works if your in a gang as well and your normally don't mine and fight because you can only then do less then 50% effort mine-ing or fighting meaking you fight poorly and your don't mine that much.

It was obvioulsy intended for GANGS of miners, not for solo miners. For solo miners, Hulk is more than enough, and even a Covetor would be better.
The ORE BC could mine significantly more as any other BC, and the actual advantage is actually in the "ore carry capacity" (proposed 4k base cargo, 8k worth ov ore with L5 BC skill), as you would not absolutely REQUIRE a hauler... the ORE BC could be used either as mini-hauler or as mini-miner (even both), depending on what you prefer. The ORE T2 BC would be even better at the "hauling" part (proposed 8k cargo base, 16k after required BC5 skill, and up to 32k ore with command ships L5), while at the same time giving a pretty good extra boost to all mining links.
And last but not least (probably THE most important part), the T2 ORE BC would make an excellent "tanked" hauler for unprocessed ore, out of the mining area. "Ninja" miners might even prefer it to the Hulk because of the carry capacity. __ Always question everything. Including yourself. |

this should be a HULK + gang mod slots so needs exumers 5 leadership 5 and mining foruma 5 maybe a couple more to get the skills high this needs to be the ultimat mining gang ship. as close to all the ideas of a mining capital ship gets.
this stops comand ship; alts becomeing a fast way to add uber mining bonuses to a gtang with minermal effort, keeps it a high end ability that alows mining based players to add to gangs without haveing to train up pvp ships ect to uses the bonuses. ------------------------------------ Dragon the patch to optimise EVE. The Brutix ships are already adequately fast miners, have a read of this thread, especially the first and last posts. Linkage

I've read that. But it's besides the point, the whole "focus" of the ORE BC/CS is not so much mining itself (while still better as with any other BC/CS), but the gang assist. On one side, the links (only the CS really improves anything here), and on the other side the ore-only cargo space.
Heck, you can make that -17.5% per level to ore space (get *8 space, for ore only, at L5) or even a whooping -19% per level (L5 end result, *20 ore cargo space) to BC "primary" bonuses (the one that were -10% in my initial proposal, giving you only *2 space).
Not to be a nitpick, but the names in this case could be ORE Heavy Hauler (for the BC) and ORE Controller (for CS). __ Always question everything. Including yourself. My skills (on BIG public site) |
