Edited by: Nena Jolene on 21/10/2006 11:27:02 ((New Player, do feel free to point out inconsistencies. I've heard good things about the RP community in Eve, so I'm looking forward to a good learning experience.))
"Nena Jolene..." The voice had said, as it filted through the loud speaker. A girl stood, among the gathered crowd- walking slowly up towards the podium. She took the diploma with a bright grin, giving a hand shake to the man. "Thank you, Sir. I enjoyed my time here at the University of Caille." The man smiled, a faceless smile really. He'd handed out what seemed like a million of these things throughout his carreer. Was this Nena Jolene any different? Probably not.
The ceremony was short, efficent. When a school has a graduation class that numbers in the tens of thousands it has to be. And Nena walked, she walked through the halls that had been her home for the last few years. The halls that she had studied in, and worked in- all as she walked towards where she'd be inserted into her pod to start her new life, trying to use what she learned in school to better her place in life. She hoped someone had need of a girl with her skills. Indeed, that was the thought that crossed her mind as she stepped into the facility, and got into her pod. Here we are. A whole new world.

Congratulations, miss Jolene. Welcome to a world where you can almost do anything you want.
I'm sure the university told you to become a good Gallentean and fight for the Federation... millions have done that before you, and unfortunately, millions will do that after you. I'd suggest you visit the outer regions of lawless space and see how things actually work.
I'm sure you've heard about the Caldari and the story about that horrible admiral Tovil-Toba who caused thousands of Gallenteans to die when he 'landed' on the city of Hueromont.
Since I doubt any of the words you heard about us Caldari were true, I'd welcome you to explain why you should not fight for but against the Federation.
I'll be waiting for your call.
Regards,
MetavirT 'Helpdesk' Archilea

Wellcome to Eve Nena! Im a recent graduate myself, and I can asure you, it will be a hard learning experiance for you at first, but thats the best thing about being a Capsuleer, that the posabilitys are limitless.
As to Mr Helpdesks comments, you are also sadly going to learn a small, but vocal group of our pod comunity carry a great deal of prejudice with them. After the Pirates, ther the next ones to look out for.....

Congratulations, Nena. You are more than human now, you are a pod captain; free and independant.
Please do your best to remember your first impression when you undocked for the first time in a university issued frigate. Look at the endless possibilties open before you, and no matter what obstacles stand in your way, don't let anything stop you.
Price of immortality is a high one, don't let your sacrifice be in vain. Go forward and never look back.

Congratulations on attaining your pilot's license. It must be quite a moment for you - to finally be able to roam through space at will, as and when you like.
As much as I will be looking forward to see your name amongst the loyal Citizens of the State, I must advise you to ignore the attempts of the.... older, capsuleers to influence you to their causes, if only for you to regret your choice later on.
Enjoy yourself, and choose your own masters to serve, or strike out on your own. It is, after all, your freedom and right as a capsuleer. ---------------

You are too quick to misalign Caille's history department, Mr. Archilea. I don't believe even my primary school textbooks were that one-sided. A very large portion of the academics there believe the Federation of the time was wrong to not allow the Caldarians to seceed peacefully and nearly all but the staunchest nationalists will admit that atrocities were comitted on both sides during the war. On the one hand, Tovil-Toba deliberatly crashed into the city and brought about many deaths, on the other it was this blow that allowed the lives of many to be saved as it gave the Caldari the time they needed to finish evacuating their people from Caldari Prime and the Galentian bombardment.
Individual professors have their biases of course but the diverse mix of people at Caille would make it difficult for any one doctrine to take root there, I think. Some professors are very openly critical of the Federation government. And for what it's worth, Vremaja Idama, an Intaki and one of the more recently notable Caille professors at the time (if only briefly) married a Caldari woman. (I was an avid atendee of his lectures while he was there and I hope to meet him again at some point as I have taken up residence in the Placid region.
Debating such things in an academic environment does little to actualy heal old wounds, alas.

Congratulations on your pod license, Jolene. Choose your friends and enemies slowly, and don't put all your eggs in one basket. Most importantly of all, stay alive.
That's the best advice I can give.

Welcome to space. Yes, choose your associations wisely. It is a confusing world, after you come from the political black and white of academies.
And don't believe what they say, you do get used to dying.

Congratulations. Always nice to have more Gallente pilots out in space. Look me up sometime if you ever need a pirate-hunting/mining/traveling partner. Don't have a whole lot on my plate at the moment, so I'd be more than happy to meet new people, y'know?

Reading through her mail, at the long list of congrats, the offers for work from so many places. She sends back a reply, to just those who were notable.
Thank you very much for your outpouring of concern, well wishing and advice. I appreciate it all. I hadn't expected so many people to be so welcoming. Should you require my services, modest they may be, do not hesitate to give me a call.
Cheers,
