After playing this game for almost 3 years I have decided to delete my 2 main characters. I have honestly given up in humanity thanks to EvE. I would just really like to know, if I do decide to come back is there honestly an active corp out there in the whole universe that actually does help one another? So, for all you who love tears, I spent almost 2 bil isk over the month buying ships and moving them to a home station for a corp only to find out said corp only wanted to feed intel to another corp to kill me...Lesson learned right, thats eve...So, the straw that broke the back today? I was trying to find and run ded complexes, finally find one and when im picking up my sentries to go to the last room.....yep some one comes in, jumps the gate, kills the loot rat takes off with the almost 400mil loot says thanks o7 and leaves.....hey, all of this would not be so bad if there truly was a corp who helped new players like myself make money...I've read the forums Ive done level 4 missions and its a grind....Im sick of logging in and hearing about people getting great loot in lowsec with remote rep tengus and billions of isk made in incursions. I simply want a corp that helps not only me, but the entire corp accomplish those goals....Are there decent corps out there? I seriously doubt it. |

I don't even know what you are talking about. First you say that you have been playing for 3 years then you call yourself a new player?
Yes there are good corps out there. Your attitude however makes me think of an old saying " a fool and his money are easily parted " if some thing sounds to good to be true or too fishy you need to be suspect. Seek out reasonable people that behave reasonably.
If you want something to happen in this game you need to be an active part of that. You need to get involved in making that happen. You can't just find a good corp and then expect them to do all the leg work and then you just show up to collect the loot. FInd a good corp. Spend time with the people in it and build relationships together. Pitch in and do stuff together. Then do your part to help make stuff happen.
If you are out there looking for one sided relationships don't be surprised if you attract scoundrels to you that are willing to lie to you to take things from you because honest and honorable people would avoid someone with your attitude like the plague.
And deleting 3 year old toons? That just shows that you are acting on pure emotion and not thinking.
Slow down, think before you act, and don't be looking for something for nothing and you'll be fine. |

Not sure what you are doing but spending 3 years in high sec to earn 4 Billion isk tells me you are doing more than one thing wrong.
You either want to play this game or you don't if you do try and learn and grow and if you don't then leave. I'm not sure what you think this rant will accomplish except that in all likelihood the people that scammed you are probably searching the forums to see if you came here to cry. |

I don't really intend it to be a rant....yes Deleting my characters was a rash choice, but i still have about 12 hours before they are recycled....I don't want a one sided relationship, I have played this game alone for 3 years..mostly in high sec...when you move out of high sec and join a corp you find itt's more of a cliqe than a corp. Honestly id just like to find an active corp who actually does things together, more than just go out and PvP....maybe daytrip in wormholes or in nullsec so everyone can run the anomalies....I would even participate in mining ops but I dont want to be pidgeonholed into a mining corp... |

Sure lesson learned, I just don't want to repeat that lesson...i can get my assets back with about 60bucks ot real life money which is about 2 and a half hours of my time IRL....I have just really had several bad experiences with corps in the past...from logging in and being the only one on, to my last experience of getting scammed.....

I think quoting one of the Cardinal Rules of EVE is prudent here:
"Don't trust anyone."
What this actually means is that you should never blindly trust anyone. Not even corpmates. NOTE: in 6 years of playing and dozens of people I have played with (sometimes for years), I actually trust maybe 3 people with my stuff and especially my money.
Now this does not mean that I won't take a leap of faith every so often. I have to. Otherwise I would not be able to do anything, anywhere, with anyone. But I only give a conditional kind of trust that has to be built up over time. Especially when I am running with new people and/or doing something I am not completely comfortable with.
For example; say I join a new corporation. I would NEVER tell them exactly how much I have in assets and liquid ISK. Ever. What I would do instead is bring a few ships that I am reasonably comfortable losing and do some things with my "new friends"... to build up trust. If I lose those ships... oh well. At least my main stash is elsewhere.
And even when I somewhat trust them, I still discreetly move my stuff around and only occasionally ask for help via a private convo with someone... usually when few others are on (to minimize the risk I would be putting myself in).
And even when I completely trust them... I still have a few stashes (which includes a fitted mission running ship and some ammo) littered around in high/low-sec that I can fall back on if everything hits the fan. It takes time to build up these stashes. And I never tell anyone about them. But it gives some peace of mind.
Point is: becoming part of a corporation doesn't automatically mean you should "trust" people with a green marker next to their names. They have to earn your trust. And you have to earn theirs. It is a gradual process.
To get to the meat of your question/rant: yes, there are corporations out there that are quite newbie friendly. And, ironically enough, those corporations tend NOT the "peaceful" ones.
Given a choice between a mission running "peaceful" corporation and a PvP corporation... take the PvP one. They tend to be more "honest" about what they do, sometimes see fewer wardecs, and have less AWOXers (because killing corpmembers in a PvP corp is like kicking a a nest of angry badgers).
Moreover, if you gain some measure of trust in a PvP corporation, they might take you along on some "money making trips" and operations... because they need to pay for their equipment at SOME POINT.
How did you start?

Hey there.
i completely understand that you feel pissed. However deleting your accounts over this is not gonna help you either.
To answer your qeustion, yes there are truly corps out there that help players. lots of them to be honest. however lots of people mean lots of opinions on what means helping.
are there corps that give you 5 bill just cuz they like your avatar? nope are there corps willigly to guide you and put you in the right direction? hell yeah.
i cant promise you that we are the bomb here, well we like to hink so but aah well... however, if you are willingly to give eve online another chance, then you can always send me an ingame mail (i dont check forums often) and i can see what i can do for you, you can always join the corp i'm in, we have lots of people willingly to invest into people, aslong as they are willingly to listen, learn and have some basic patience.
we also live in null. and isk wise i might be able to help you out aswell ( read giving you some isk/ships, pointing you in the direction, then helping you then releasing you into the big scary world that is eve.)
I dont do this often, but i do think you with 3 years under the belt, can become someone who does get a lot of fun and a thrill out of eve.
its the best thing i can offer right now. let me know what you think of it ingame mail pls, i barely check the forums often :(

Thing is people with steady time table and blingy ships eventually get in to radar ...
That means in null that it's going to be a hot drop a clock sooner or later.
As far hunting you down if you quit ? I highly doubt they would bother to specifically hunt you unless you've provoked the leader ship in some way.
There are only 4 reasons to ever actively hunt someone in EVE:
1) vengeance as in seriously pissing someone off 2) ISK as in having a 16bil officer loot pinjata in Motsu 3) kb padding as in hello PL 4) protecting you bear ships from hot drops, spies, et c. especially in wh less so in k-space.

If you would not delete your main char I would recommend InterSun Freelance corp, but totaly new char? Brave newbees, maybe. I would say easy access corps are wrong place to look for the good home. If you see corp, that does really cares about entrance procedure you will lose your time even contacting them. Look at corp like InterSun Freelance, with their ultimate questionaries and countless checkings, in-personal talk etc - you will hardly get scummed if you ever manage to get in. Cause they also work hard to get only really good players and will value you if you pass the test. Easy on easy off corp is way to tears here, IMHO. |

That sounds pretty much how my eve started. Yet, when I look back at all the hard time I went through, all the losses, all those gazillion wardecs, people trying to awox and backstab, I am glad and grateful for having also friends here with who you can go forward, who are there to stand up for you and sail with you through these cold, unforgiving waters of eve... Wait.. Is that ocean of tears?
Losses are part of eve. Learn from them and don't get too attached to stuff you own. Eve is so much more than x amount billions of isk. To me its social game with its protagonists and antagonists. Some people choose to play "fair and just" others are as "mean and evil" as the rules stretch to. It's still just a game though. |

Why on earth would they do that, sounds like a complete waste of time and resources to hunt ONE person for no particular gain.
Obviously if you stay in null and they happen to pass by they will shoot you, but such is the nature of null.
You have 12 million ISK, that's enough to buy a destroyer and go ratting in belts, before long you'll have enough for a cruiser and then back to almost fully functional levels.
The most important thing you must take away from this is: "How do I stop this from happening again?"

1. Getting out of null is easy. Get into a ship, set destination and fly there (dont autopilot) 2. Making ISK is easy. This char is less than a week old, still trial, and I started with no SP's, and I am currently sitting on a bank of almost a 100mil. 3. Who cares what that alliance does? If they want to attack you in highsec, they are going to have to waste ISK on a wardec, or suicide gank you. Wardecs is a useless mechanic that is just too easy to avoid (keep an eye on local, move around alot etc.)
So here is what I would do if I was you:
a) Join a nullsec corp, maybe BRAVE. They dont care if you bring targets, hell they would see it as a gift. OR b) Join KARMAFLEET (I think its called). OR c) Join RvB, which would also appreciate being wardecced OR d) Buy a destroyer with the ISK you have left, run a few level 2 missions, buy a cruiser, run a few more missions, buy a battleship and spend a week to earn 1bil in Highsec. OR e) Join a lowsec piracy group, tell them what happened, that you want to learn to defend yourself and get back at them. Odds are they would respect that and give you a hand.
The above is just a few things that I would have considered, and you obviously need to find your own way. Just dont give up, because that would give them satisfaction. |

If you have made up your mind about deleting your characters.. Don't! Even if you are fed up and want to get rid of them because they "carry" bad experiences be the smart guy and sell them instead. You can make a good amount of ISK selling two 3 year old characters.(if of course the have some skillpoints and didn't stay 2 out of 3 years without skill queue)
Concerning people scheming to gank/kill you, take advantage of you etc, you got it correct : That's EVE. Even the people that don't shoot you or steal from you want to do it. They just don't have enough incentive yet. Give it time
The incident in the DED complex you describe should not throw you off like that. Especially if you've been playing the game for 3ish years. DED complexes are 'free for all' mode. Fastest guy gets the loot and everything is fair game(depending on system's sec status). If they get the killing blow they didn't steal the loot btw. They can steal the loot if you get the killing blow in which case they will go suspect. If you are new to DED farming you have to accept the fact that its a very competitive profession.
Finally if you drool over nullsec loot and ISK go join an established nullsec corp. Farming isk is easy if that is what you want to do. It is pretty boring though. No matter High or Null sec. Also you will find out that null sec Corps do work together to accomplish their goals, be it ISK farming or Alliance strategies, but also require putting personal goals and enjoyment aside at times. It's not for everyone.
Good luck in finding your spot in EVE. o7 |

No this is not a whine thread, it was actually something of closure for me with my EvE experience. I Honestly want to thank those of you who did post words of encouragement and I really wish I had utilized these forums before as I might have found some good people. I had always just had it in my head that everyone in Eve was out for themselves and that noone really cared about helping someone new unless they had something to gain from it. Yes, I have decided to quit eve, and yes I did keep my characters from being reprocessed when I got home from work this evening.
While at this present time and honestly in the foreseeable future I do not see myself returning to eve, or any MMO for that matter. While I have played several MMO's when my time in them is over I am left with a huge emptiness inside, much like losing a friend. I really wanted to get on Eve today to maybe try and see if I could get out of nullsec an maybe start running missions from level one with my limited amount of isk, but I immediately thought of everything I had lost and the burning hatred for what had happened. My next logical thought was hey I can buy a plex and try to join a pvp corp who might want to help me with this personal vendetta I have against the guy who jacked my first ever shiny piece of loot....Then I realized, if I did buy PLEX I would be no better than some of the people I once despised who "Pay to win".
Yes, what I should do is "Suck it up buttercup" but I really can't bring myself to do it this time. A lot I think really has to do with the fact I have lost my core group of friends and my mentor who played eve but have now quit due to what they call a huge nerf to industry as it is just as cheap to buy stuff than to make it and the fact that incursions have ruined the game by over-inflating the market.
So, in closing if you want to call it whining, thats fine. To me it really was a last ditch effort at some closure, a sort of what if so to speak...I truly do appreciate all the comments and I sincerely hope all of you will continue to help new players and possibly make EvE something I might want to play again.
As for "all my assets, or my stuff, sure you can have the 24ish mil in my wallet and a few t1 modules and ammo stuck somewhere in minmitar space, that's truly all I have left to my name."
Again thank you all. |

I personally thank you for sharing and **** on those that say you are whining.
I find it interesting that any time someone gets screwed by someone else in this game and posts their story, that there is a pack of douche bags that tells you that you are a whiner and don't know how to play.
It's interesting that this is the only game I have played where screwing other players is actively encouraged. Well more could be said about this ... but why waste my breath?
Anyway, I ask you not to quit, learn form your mistakes, and find some good guys to team up with.
Best of Luck

My advice to you is come out to Low Sec and join a Fac War corp.
When you join a Fac War corp you instantly have friends who all share goals and all need to make money just like you. The nice part about Low Sec is when someone messes with your stuff you get to shoot at them and actually defend your prizes.
The rules of High Sec make you prey for the worst parts of eve.

Sorry that you feel you can no longer enjoy this game. It sucks when friends leave and go elsewhere, it's a major reason why people stop playing MMOs. Often they only hang around because their friends still play.
But you know, it is possible to make new friends in EVE, if you want to. Just be cautious, and do what you can to prevent people taking your stuff. Move to a safe base of operations for a while, take things easy. Buy yourself a PLEX to give you some funds (no, it's not pay to win), relax and just do stuff for fun.
Hell, make it your mission to destroy the people who made you mad. Make an alt (but keep its API free of any contact with your mains), be smart, get intel on them, find out where they are, who their alts are, hunt them mercilessly or gain their trust and steal everything they own. |

You aren't "paying to win", you're paying for 30 days of game time. Somewhere out there, there's a high school kid who's addicted to EVE like it was crack, and his parents have cut his account off. He really needs another 30 days of game time but can't pay for it with real money. You can bring joy to his little heart and in exchange he'll share with you the ISK he's earned from a month of late nights mining veldspar or whatever. This is the miracle of PLEX.

90% of corporations out there will help players immensely. I joined a nullsec corp 2 months into the game. I spent a lot of time setting up tactical bookmarks for the corp, scouting for trade runs, and helping tackle in fleets. I was given a few hundred million ISK as a thank you for doing that stuff. Low skill points does not mean you are unable to help.
Corporations help people who help the corporation.
You need to give back to the corp however you can. If you are't helping them and just want to get something out of them, you will get screwed. I recently rejoined my first corp (nearly two years after quitting) and they are still using a good chunk of the tactical BMs my two-month-old 2012 rookie created.
All that being said, "in EVE trust people, just don't trust them with your ISK"
Keep only the bare minimum of what you need in null, any time a WH opens to highsec, dump anything extra and valuable you possibly have in a highsec station. |

Seriously....
Have you looked at the stickies on the forum?
Apparantly not, otherwise you would have found that guide that helps you find the corp that suits you (and yes, for every player there IS a corp that suits him/her. The hard part is finding it).

Your assrts, may I aquire them? No this is not a whine thread, it was actually something of closure for me with my EvE experience. I Honestly want to thank those of you who did post words of encouragement and I really wish I had utilized these forums before as I might have found some good people. I had always just had it in my head that everyone in Eve was out for themselves and that noone really cared about helping someone new unless they had something to gain from it. Yes, I have decided to quit eve, and yes I did keep my characters from being reprocessed when I got home from work this evening. .
Sorry to see you go, but to answer the quoted:
Plenty of veterans LOVE to help new players get into the game, for only 1 payback...a grateful new player that continues to play EVE. After all the more people in the sandbox, the better it is for the sandbox (more income for CCP, so it can keep expanding and improving the tools of the sandbox + more people to play with or against).
How people will help you, it ranges from just simple be a buddy to answer your questions to actually actively assist you in space or invite you over to join them in what ever they are doing.

Cause EVE is a sandbox, and all the other games are theme-parks where on every corner there is a security guard to protect you from harming yourself and others.
Yes, his story is good, as it's an experience of a new player that others can read up about and learn from. But all that happened is genuine and allowed gameplay, so you either accept it, learn from it and adapt...or you don't, your own choice.

No. If you create or join a corp, the biggest problem will be the fact that you WILL be wardec'd without cause or reason other than because they can. Unless you are in null or a wh you are just going to be a target for "leet pvpers" anywhere you go.
Because of this nobody can really thrive in hisec as a corp. Your only option is a family of NPC alts.
Wardeccing is the greatest cancer in the game right now. Unlimited ability to just wardec just to be a d!ck. This needs to be fixed and limited to 5 per corp or alliance. CEO skill with 5 levels and the 5th should be a good 2 week skill.
Wars have no meaning. coalition wars have a little meaning and they are not even real wars, just documented "grr" on TMC or EN24 leaks about deployments.
5.5 yrs and I have yet to see a group of more than 3-4 players who genuinely want to help eachother and learn and play without eventually becoming the target of someone elses greed sooner or later.
Corps like the one you seek would flourish if CCP ever had the brain to limit wardecs. But until then there is really no point in hisec corps other than to be a wardeccing group of "leet pvpers"

Looking for a corp to join is a matter of doing your research, getting out and meeting new people, and through their connections getting recommendations of corps to join. And then you still research the corp.
For one thing, check their killboard. See what kind of targets they go after and kill - it'll also tell you the kind of places they operate in. For another, go research them on EveWho.
http://evewho.com/
If you want to find out if a corp is active in your time zone, pull up the corp information on EveWho (you have to spell it exactly), and pull up the member list.
Then add every last one of them to your contacts and watch list by clicking the little asterisk next to each name. This will allow you to see who is logged on and who is logged off in the corporation whenever you log on. If everyone is asleep or at work every time you log in during the week - cross that corp off your list. Make sure to put the corp in it's own custom watch list folder so you can delete them all easily when you rule the corp out.
Probably wouldn't hurt to run a few general internet searches on them in the forums and elsewhere as well. You might learn something.
And here's a final word of advice.
Never, never, NEVER move all your assets to a new corp staging area. I'd say at most, you should only be housing about a third of your assets in areas the new corp controls.
For instance, when I joined a small wormhole corporation, they invited me to come live in the wormhole system and stage out of their POS. Which I did. But I only moved about a quarter of my ships into the wormhole. The rest of my stuff stayed safely docked in Amarr. The most expensive ships never left Amarr usually. And especially during the first week or two of testing, I only brought in cheap ships that wouldn't make anyone feel anything other than lame to steal.
They were nice guys. Helpful and ultimately turned out to be trustworthy. But even once I trusted them I still only kept no more than a quarter of my assets in the POS.
The neat thing about trust and friendship is that it works a lot better when you don't give people any real incentives to backstab you.
Even when I had to quit the corp due to IRL issues, I didn't announce my decision to my CEO until I had quietly removed all the expensive ships I'd fit and paid for myself safely out of the hole and into hisec. And that was after I'd been with these guys over a year and trusted them completely and considered them buddies more or less. And I still didn't completely trust them not pull a cute stunt on me.
Here's the deal - in Eve, you got to learn to have split personalities and multiple identities. And never put ALL your in-game identity into one thing.
You don't put all of your characters into one organization - because you might get betrayed and need those alts to facilitate things. You might get wardecced and need a neutral character to haul stuff out to your location without the worry of war targets killing him. You might even just want a neutral scout who can slip into systems and monitor your own war targets.
And if you can financially pay for that much ISK, you can afford to fund a couple different accounts. Keep a neutral Incursion running character, for instance. Train up an industrialist, or a hauling alt, or a covert ops cyno alt, or whatever your destiny in Eve calls for. I don't care about paying for ISK - if it makes more sense to buy ISK than run level four missions for hours to get it, by all means, go ahead. But you gotta spread the investment around and diversify a bit - on multiple characters, and not just on one corp.
You said you didn't want your character to get tied down in mining? So what? Make a mining alt and let HER do all the mining. Then use another character for other stuff.
Never have all your eggs in one basket. If someone betrays you, make sure it's just a setback, not the end of your business. People say to have a life outside your job in real life. I say, an Eve character should have a life outside his or her corp too. If the corp gets shut down for whatever reason, it's not the end of your game time.
It's fine to take a risk on a corp that maybe you haven't researched completely (as long as you at least did a bit of investigation). Take a chance - but don't wager the whole pot. |

Please, explain to me why may alt corp in it's nearly 5 year of existance, never has ever seen a wardec?
And yes, they were quite active for a long time (only recently the alt corp went dormant for now).
Join a player corp and you will get wardecs...FALSE.
Join a player corp that makes itself a target and you will get wardecs...TRUE.

Corps like the one you seek would flourish if CCP ever had the brain to limit wardecs. But until then there is really no point in hisec corps other than to be a wardeccing group of "leet pvpers" I would probably agree with you that the war dec mechanic is broken atm and I think the devs realize that also but I don't think it's that big of a deal. What I mean is that even if they could "fix" the war dec system which would necessitate a complete revamp of high sec, so as to not break the economy, I don't think it would make the game all that much different. At the end of the day high sec is intended to be a place where new players start out and can get used the basic aspects of the game before moving on to more complicated aspects. Also a place to retreat to when stuff goes south and keep your most valuable assets.
Eve is not a Theme Park MMO the devs had said repeatedly that their goal is to make a sandbox game with emergent game play based around player interactions. "player interactions" in most cases means PvP. This is a PvP game the devs don't want high sec to be some ultra safe haven where players can spend years soloing somewhat challenging PvE content. If you want that kind of gameplay then you can play pretty much every other MMO out there. I'm not knocking those other MMOs mind you I've played them and enjoyed them I'm just saying that in the world of MMOs where every other game is trying to be like the one game that did really well once, that Eve being older than the unmentionable MMO has been doing it's own thing for longer.
Eve is different and probably the reason that I keep coming back to it is because it's not the same as every other MMO out there. Please stop trying to turn Eve into those other MMOs. I like having some choice and variety. |

Honestly id just like to find an active corp who actually does things together, more than just go out and PvP....maybe daytrip in wormholes or in nullsec so everyone can run the anomalies....I would even participate in mining ops but I dont want to be pidgeonholed into a mining corp...
Most nullsec dudes make money on their own, not in groups. Every anom can be done solo in ships that barely even count as fancy. |
