I just wanted to touch base on one anomaly and one longstanding issue on the Mac (I have previously filed bug reports for both).
GÇó Every now and then when I jump through a stargate, after the cycle completes the warp gates disappear. You can still jump, but there is no gate physically present (only the icon in the Overview). In addition, there is no stargate jump sound, no warp animation, warp sound (it's ominously quiet) or stargate cloak after jumping. This is also where you subsequently get the "You cannot navigate that way with the selected object..." error message when you try to dock at a station after completing a jump through a stargate. You have to initiate some movement and then it lets you proceed. Except the station is missing when you arrive, but it still allows you to dock. There 's no fix (docking and undocking doesn't work) short of quitting and reconnecting with the client. The only clue as to the origin that I've been able to ascertain thus far seems to be tied to using the Leopard with Ascendancy implants.
GÇó The "white screen of death" (occasionally light blue or pale yellow, as well). When running PvE missions, at some point during combat the nebula background turns one of these lovely colours. Sometimes it's a 50-50 split, with half the background appearing on the left and the right side completely whiteout. Eventually this corrects itself, although rotating the view to something less intense is the only recourse.
I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week.

Thanks, Arthur.
I hadn't heard of that Stargate issue before, I'll have a rummage through our Bug Reports and see if I can find it. About the "white screen of death", this is a known issue that we've been able to pin on something going on in Medium/Low shader settings. We've never seen this on High, we are investigating though.
Best,

Ah, that makes sense (since starting EVE I've always been limited to a medium shader setting due to either the OS or graphics card).

Last night I had a similar experience with in-space graphics items not showing. I was running three clients, mining, and doing some web browsing with FireFox. One client locked up ( not too uncommon if you run 3 clients and web browse). Oddly, it eventually reported an exception and a cider run-time error. (It use to just stay locked up forever. CCP, did you do something? Something that will help you figure out these lock-ups?) I let the crash reporter do its thing.
I re-logged the crashed client. Later I warped everyone to a POS. One client could not see the tower, or any POS modules or the force field bubble. They showed on the overview, and the brackets in space showed, but none of the graphic elements. I decided enough is enough, quit all the clients, re-started the computer, and logged everyone back in.

I can't seem to change the download location inside the launcher settings, the navigation is greyed out and not modifiable.
My set up is on an separate hard drive, so I don't know if that is an issue.
I am also running from an external drive (sd card in this case, mbpr) and the download location is greyed out for me as well. My system drive is a smallish SSD so this is a game-breaking error for me :(
I suppose I could make a symlink to sort of hack the client into putting the download directory on my sd card, but that seems like a lot of work to play a game on my laptop. |

I really don't have room for 12 more GBs of stuff on my internal hard drive. Is there a way to move this cache so it's made on my external drive?
Hi Henry, You can set the cache location in the Launcher's settings: Cog in top right of launcher > Download tab > Shared Cache Location. You can then copy the contents of your old shared Cache into that to save on downloading updates again.
Except the "Shared Cache Location" is greyed out and you can't change the location.
You can move the application folder and soft-link back to the Library, but I'm not sure that is a good long term solution. It seems to be enough to let me run the resource cache conversion.

Well, I just did a Symlink (aka soft link). Haven't come across an update yet to see if that fixes my problem, but I have gotten the EVE client to work purely off my second hard drive.
Followed the instructions on this website: How to make a Symlink on Mac
The codeline in terminal I used was this: >DISCLAIMER< Don't mess with terminal unless you're fine with one of two things: You know how to use terminal, OR, you can afford to lose your computer - not likely to happen, but it can happen.
Matt2$ ln -s /Volumes/Mac/games/EVE\ Online /Users/Matt2/Library/Application\ Support/EVE\ Online
Or this, removing my personal locations:
ln -s /Volumes/"Your HD"/"Folder"/EVE\ Online /Users/"Your User"/Library/Application\ Support/EVE\ Online
Make sure to drag the EVE online folder out of your application support folder into where you want it, then delete the old folder in application support before going through this code.
CCP, this would be much simpler if we could select our location, don't know why it's greyed out. But really, thanks for all the hard work that you do to bring an awesome game. |

Hi Flitoff,
I have confirmed that it is correctly signed up to Yosemite, can I ask what setting is selected in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General tab: "Allow applications downloaded from:" ?
I've only heard of one other person having a problem with the latest clonemaker, and they haven't replied to my question regarding their security settings.
It would really help to know what OS version you are running on too.
Best,
Sledgehammer.

It would really help to know what OS version you are running on too. Make that two. The only way I could get Clonemaker to run without the "broken" message was to disable the security settings by changing it to "Allow apps downloaded from: Anywhere". The old Clonemaker only required validation once and allowed me to retain the preferred security settings of "Mac App Store and Identified developers". OS X Yosemite 10.10.2.
Somewhat related, but this now marks the second testing cycle where the EVE SiSi Mac client is pooched (despite a clean install, again). It's to the point where I'm asking myself why bother, since I can't provide any feedback - or by the time I can provide anything it's so late in the testing cycle that there's really not anything that can be done about it. Then I wait for the inevitable Mac performance and stability issues to crop up with the next client release to basically report them here.
So here is about the only valid Mac feedback I can provide. I had five (5) active subscriber accounts. Not through PLEX, mind you - but prepaid subscriptions. I cancelled two late last year and have set another two to expire when the prepaid allotment runs out later this year. I will not be renewing any of those or making use of the EVE Clonemaker at this point, as the Mac EVE client is just to unstable (let alone when you introduce multiple clients). I used PLEX on my main (last) account to keep it active until Dec-2015, at which point if there isn't any Yosemite support, client stability and improved graphics options ("High" shader setting) - I'm calling it a day and writing off my several year investment in EVE.
It sucks being a second-tier citizen in EVE. As a Mac user, we rarely get to see any the benefit of any performance aspects - and a lot of us are missing out on a considerable degree of graphic and audio improvements (I'm limited to a "Medium" shader setting and have had to effectively disable all my music and audio just to get a limited degree of stability).
There's a subtle irony in the fact that what attracted me to EVE in the first place (Mac client) is now the same thing that will probably kill my interest in this game (instability of same Mac client). I suspect I'm far from the only Mac owner in this predicament, but at this point I'm really drawing a blank on what else I can do.

Filed a bug report about this last week, but the launcher still won't allow me to change the location of the shared locations.
What's the point of having a box to change that location if I'm not allowed to edit it?
Sure I could make a symlink to hack this into working, but it's pretty obviously a bug and will I have to fix my hack when the bug is fixed?
Really the best thing would be to store the resources in the .app folder so it just follows wherever I put it. As it is now, if I try to play EVE without hacking the command line it will fill up my system drive and make the computer unusable until I delete my EVE library files. |

But, Show Package Content and navigating > Contents > Scripts > main.scpt and double clicking that and then hitting the run button in Script Editor, made it work. That should've been fixed, can I ask you to check a setting for me? System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General tab: What is "Allow applications downloaded from:" set to?
I am not at home at the moment. I know that my settings are not limited to just Mac App Store and open to everyone. Think that is the middle option. As someone else said, the right/control click option doesn't work ether for me. I had the same issue with the last clone maker. I ended up having a friend send me a copy. But as I said in my op, right-clicking and show package blah blah and navigating to the script works.
I recently did a complete delete and restall of my computer, every other file I downloaded never gave me a problem. Everything from Steam to TS to Skype to mumble even the EVE download. Yet, the clone maker still said it was broken right after download.
If I need to make anymore clones, I will just use my work around.

Same. There is no way 15G of application data belongs in my home directory. Settings and screenshots and other user-specific data? Absolutely. But not a huge chunk of the application itself. I'm now backing that 15G up to crashplan which is just crazy. And if I did have multiple users of my Mac then it'd be 15G per user.
Best place for it is inside the Application bundle itself. If for whatever reason that isn't possible, maybe /Users/Shared. |

Two anomalies today...
1. While fitting a ship, the 'Offense' portion of the fitting window failed to update. Specifically, it wasn't updating drone DPS when swapping drones. In addition, there was no DPS from laser weapons (despite having several installed). I had to undock and then re-dock to resolve the issue.
2. On undocking, my System, Route And Agent information disappeared. Despite docking and then undocking again, the upper left-hand HUD was blank. Toggling and untoggling the icons had zero effect. The only fix was once again to quit and re-login. First time this has happened, so I'm unsure what triggered it. Update: I thought this was an isolated issue, but after reconnecting and undocking the same issue happened again. I was running the Caldari Epic Mission Arc and trying to complete 'Practical Solutions'.

You either have a Mac product, or you're still beta testing it. It's very annoying investing in this game under the pre-tense that you are actually supporting the mac platform when you leave it unplayable regularly. The only MMORPG on the Mac that is progressively getting worse over time. Cider is not complex, you're just not troubleshooting the environment with enough people or we would have resolution in times relative to the PC client.
I get a faster computer every year and yet my performance in a 12 year old game gets worse every year.... go figure. Do you have a single Apple only developer at CCP? |

^^ This.
Also, confirming that I had to change my applications trust setting to "trust anything that smiles at you," and I'm not really happy to have to give up the protection of application signing with very specific exceptions allowed explicitly by me.
I'm also pinging Apple about this, because it doesn't just affect EVE (the awesome and irreplaceable BBEdit is only available at full power if you download it from the developer, because the sandbox disables some of its nicest features). But it's an issue now.

Just a head's up to anyone running OS X Yosemite 10.10.3, there appears to be some serious issues with the latest SiSi/Cider build - so my advice is to install an extended training queue just to be on the safe side. By 'extended', I mean a year.
