Say you have been mining for a while and now want to haul all your hard mined ore to base. So you warp back to base and appear 20+ km away. It is not too bad because you fly frigate or cruiser but when you change to indy (industrial ship used for transporting goods) it will take you ages to dock because indy is slooooow.
It would be nice to have a technique that allows you to come out of the warp close enough to base to dock and close to your container you have left by asteroid belt to load your indy.
The solution is simple. When you warp to base (don't dock just warp) carry on flying and pass base by 18km. Open up your bookmarks and press Add Bookmark button. Call location something like: mining-base. Do the same with your floating container location. Warp to asteroid belt pass container by 18km in the straight line from base (you must align base, container and point you want to place bookmark in to be on the same line) and add bookmark. Call it mining-container.
Now when you warp to mining-base you should warp right into the base so you can dock instantly. The same with container – warp and appear right by the container.
Now go get indy and haul.

The easiest way is to just bookmark righ as soon as you undock form station. Most station will allow this and you land righ around docking range when you do use the bookmark.

would be even nicer if bookmarks really bookmarked location you are at instead of some odd place 20km away from location you BM.
maybe someday this will become reality... My alt hates me, I don't know why. he won't even talk to me anymore |

The bookmark does mark where you are. When you warp to it you drop short of your book mark by about 14-18km. The proof? Warp to a bookmark (say a roid) and let the ship do its own thing, you'll find it will fly to the roid and stop even though it warped to only about 14km in the first instance.

A breaking distance skill would be good for this kind of thing, but thats for another forum ______________

Edited by: maxy on 06/11/2003 11:38:06 You are right about that. The workaround is to pass container just a touch off course, of course, lol :: Stay Safe ::
