are you joking? Solo pirates can make so much isk its not funny. Just dont die, but ofc if you suck this is hard to do.

Even if you have the skills to fly a ship, you probably don't have the skills to fly it well. You're free to buy one and fit it for future use, but keep flying cruisers until you're comfortable in PvP and can take on just about anyone in a similar class ship. I made the mistake of flying a Raven the second I finished BS 2 and I went kaboom quite a few times because of it.
Another important thing with gate piracy (although not technically necessary) is scouting. If you've got an alt on the other side of the gate, you can pick and choose what you engage. Surprises are not your friend. You must surprise them, not the other way around.
I've seen quite a few 'pirates' get ganked by smaller ships because they were too gung ho about killing something and engaged the first thing they saw, then a hauler appears and they stick around too long trying to take it out (even funnier when the smaller ship scrams you and they wait for the sentries to crush you). Set priorities for yourself. Are you after ISK or are you after PvP experience? You can adjust it for different situations, but don't go in there and change your mind.
Always respect your ransom. If by chance you or your wingman accidentally take out the target, send back the ISK and be on your way.
Keep smacktalking to a minimum. If you're pirating for ISK, it's better to be polite or just keep your mouth shut altogether. You want the targets to pay the ransom and be happy they didn't lose their ship/implants. You don't want them ****ed off and calling in friends to come gank you. Even if they don't get you, you'll be losing precious time that you could've been profiting at the gate/belt/complex/whatever.
That's it I guess.

Also: It is very possibel to live on belt piracy, maby you wont make enought ISK to pimp ships but I am pretty sure you can buy HACs with the ISK you make from belting. And as Roule said 0.0 piracy is more ISK but then again it's ISK vs Reward ;) _____

I was recently scammed for 200.000.000 ISK, so what?
Scamming is np, i've scammed people myself, the real issue is dishonoring a ransom, thats just -not- something you do.

This is not you're thread, it's the OP's thread and the advices you have given him in the first 2 messages are truly stupid - which goes in tone with you're dishonoured ransom. Bigger ship is better ?; since when ? First do it in a Frigate, it is cheaper and you can learn how to use the scanner and learn the usual setups of the different kind of ships you will face - for instance a Domi in a belt with no guns is pretty much a no-no. Brutix is not the best Piracy ship, it's pretty much a damage dealer, so it would be best to fly as part of a group. It turns slowly, warp alligning takes ages and a small gang will fry you with ease.
And btw, the original thread in which JustBlaze bragged is saved on eve-search. LINKY --------------------------------------------------

That's also edithed, he just removed the auto-writing saying when it was edithed at the top, the edith is a poor excuse as to -why- he didnt honor the ransom, the replies show pretty much all you need to know though.
To the OP, I added you to my buddy list, i'll pm you whenever I manage to come across you and help you out abit, I fly gallente ships myself.

making isk as a pirate doesnt need ransoms. i agree with most of what the guy said about my primary post as he is right. fly smart and arm well and you will earn isk.
and for the kublai.. get over it.

bigger ship means you can take on bigger targets. yes fly a frigate to start off with.. thats simple logic but once you get the hang of things grab yourself a big beasty and take harder people on.

Originally by: JustBlaze right rules of pirating are always know the people in the system, meaning if theres 5 people in system and you know they arnt docked (you scanned) you dont pirate.
yes a better ship helps i suggest a megathron, the most powerful bs out and t2 armament wouldnt go a miss.
try doing some pvp before you pirate, learn some things about the ships you will face.
always arm your ship so your never on a thread, meaning make sure you can tank multiple types not just one, if you are tanking.
rule 1o1 pick your targets wisley.
lets say a faction battleship roles in and you have your bs ready, i doubt you will defeat it alone so always have help ready if you need it.
learn the surroundings so if somthing goes wrong you have a ss or a moon you can warp to.
do the kill grab the loot and leave do not sit around to think you are always a target after a kill.
these are some things i go by when it comes to killing/pirating.
Unskilled Megathron pilot *will* get caught, and with a T1 fit, it'll die very easily.
Go for a Vexor or Thorax, better yet, an Ishkur.

1st - don't be a JustBlaze, bad for your rep and ransoming
2nd - do not pirate in that ship, it's bad unless you gots skill points into it and still, it's not that good unless you as a gall pilot have been mastering the drone skills
3rd - learn to make safe spots - do not use ss between warpable objects very often
4th - learn to use the scanner very well, to be able to detect people in a system in a min aprox and now what they are flying and if flying together
5th - I'd recomend a thorax, check the ships threaad for setups and/or ask arround, but most important, exercise with a buddy different setups and see how it handles. The thorax may be much closer to your skill points and is also cheaper. Plus raxes have a nice combination of tankability and damage, and you can make one hell of a damagedealer out of it.

Pirating is a very profitable job in eve. You can make a coupleof bil in a few month doing the right thing and not getting killed. As far as hurting people feelings be prepared to be called everyhting under the sun. At some point your no longer called a pirate but instead a a-hole or piece of sh*t so on so on. I love to grief peeps best part of the game. Beer em Good!!!!!! Signature removed. Please review the forum rules or e-mail us with any questions - Petwraith

just reminded me .. if you/your corp controls the system, you can sell mining rights or free passage rights to folks. Which can be very profitable.
