Not sure if theres something wrong with my options/drivers, or wih the ui itself.
In a station I was getting about 30 fps. Disabling the ui with Ctrl-f9 and my fps shot up to 60. Probably more as its capped by refresh rate.
Is there any way to improve performance on the 2d side bar installing new drivers ? Some options or something ... (anti aliasing is off)

It's the coding of the UI itself, doubt theres anything you can do about it.

not really the apoc is alote more poly's then a shuttle. So that will cause the slow downs. I got a 9800pro from hercules.. i still get 15fps in space ( dominix ) but still .. even and ati dont get along

It'd be nice to have an option to only show gang chat UI and everything else disabled.
Mostly, in a battle, you're only using scanner and gang chat (for those not using voice communication).
I think what most people describe as "lag" is actually their gfx card struggling to load celestial objects rather than anything to do with network.

Game runs smooth as can be with 8xAniso and 4xFSAA at 1280*960 for me. (5900 Ultra) No idea what the exact fps is, but who cares if its smoooth! __________________

Your FPS doubles but you lose any and all communication with anyone else.
*Now expects to be told otherwise*

Hance the reason why I'm trying to improve 2d performance.

In fullscreen the difference gets smaller, I think.

I think it has more to do with operating system. Whil corp mining on a LAN I think I noticed a slight difference in XP and 2000 professional where XP had advantage.

This may be a dumb question... but I wanna know the answer anyhow.
How the hell do you show fps?

Lol.
The reason:
CCP was lame enough to implement a 3D user interface, just to have transparency + a 3Dish look, and they were lame enough to light the whole user interface with the main light in the scene, namely the sun. Just turn you view, and watch how the UI lighting changes.
After all this, you still wonder fps doubles if you turn off the UI? On smaller ships i bet the UI has more polygons than the complete screen behind it. ------------- This post is nothing more than my personal opinion. It does not represent the official standpoint of Fountain Alliance, or the HUN Corporation in any way. ------------- |

isn't there a keypress combo that displays the FPS and net speeds, I remember it was in in beta, and someone posted about it a while ago... I'm just to lazy to go look for it.

Well,
It used to be CTRL+ALT+F12, but since the last patch it is not working for me.
Anyway, I upgraded my vid card from a GF4 MX440 deeeeeeply overclocked, to a GF FX 5600. I used to play at 1280 x 1024, with an average of 20 FPS.
Now Im playing at 1600 x 1200, with an average of 25. nice thing is, my FPS does not drop as it used to when I get near clouds and such. I used fraps to measure it, since my monitor is broken. _______________________________________________
