The leave corp option quoted above while technically correct is not something you should be doing. You do not need to leave your current corp before you are able to join another player corp. To do so will drop you into an NPC corp between the two player corps and will pollute your employment history. It is not a huge issue, but it is considered a good thing to keep your employment history as short as possible.
You do need to drop roles though before transferring between corps. Most Corps will give you some roles if just to enable you to use the lowest tier of Corp hanger available. It takes 24 hours to drop roles and once you have started dropping roles your old corp cannot assign new roles unless you cancel the dropping roles operation. You can put your application into a new corp before your roles drop. The new corp can attempt to accept you, but they will get an error message, saying you can't be accepted for another X hours. The application remain actionable until they actually accept or reject it.
I can't remember how to drop roles, but there is a button or a right click option buried in the Corp tabs somewhere. Note that even if you haven't or don't think you have got any roles assigned it is a good idea to click this button, because it stops your old corp assigning you new roles while you are waiting for your new corp to accept you. Something which happened to me recently delaying my transfer for 24 hours unnecessarily.
Once your roles have dropped, any corp you have an application with can accept you and you will transfer over to that corp as soon as the recruiting officer clicks the accept button on your application. You do not have to be online for that to happen and you don't get the option to confirm or reject the action. Note, if you change your mind and apply to a second new corp, your original application isn't erased. ie It is possible to have two or more applications open at the same time and then getting accepted by both of them which will leave you in the last one that accepted you, unless the first one immediately assigned you roles. So if you do change your mind, talk to the corp you don't want to join asking them to reject your application. |
