Okay, I took the package over to the station. What should I do with it to get the safety back and the guy to receive it? I don't even know who the guy is, but I guess that is how the system works.
Any help much appreciated!

When you dock at the remote station to deliver an item the agent that gave you the mission will be listed, as an agent of interest. Start a conversation with him/her.
Or open your journal, and start a conversation from that.
Also if you are collecting an item for an agent mission the agent will appear in the Agents of interest and you can set destination back to their station by right clicking on them.

Thanks Ver, but this is player to player. 
It's the kind where you select a courier like that from Escrow.

Open your journal. Click on the "My courier missions" tab. Click on the "Accepted" tab. You should see your courier mission there. Right click on it and it should give you an option to complete the mission.

Is there any way I can find out who I delivered the goods to, now that the mission is over.

If you check out the player courier setup screens (under Escrow) you will find they are very clunky and a pain to use. This will be changing with the new contract system in Kali, hopefully to something worth using.
For example I'm a Ranged Order Trader operating over several Regions. I have lots of stuff scattered around in small quantities that I'd be happy to set up courier Missions for and judging by how fast the few I do are taken up lots of pilots would glad to take them. But slaving at a keyboard typing in repetitive data is not my idea of fun.
I think with contracts anonymity will be voluntary.
