I am curious as to how you are able to get sovereignty over a system. Do you need a POS there or can you just fully gank it on a regular basis?

You need to deploy more POS than anybody else, and turn on the "sovereignty" switch on each POS. Large POS are move valueable than Medium POS, and those are more valuable than Small POS.
A POS starts counting towards sovereignty if it was online for more than 5 days (I think). It is not immediately right after onlining the tower.

On a related question, can you "claim" sovereignty of a system that is sovereign to one of the NPC factions, like Thukker, Angel Cartel, etc?

Someone mentioned to me that Sovreignty reduces the POS fuel requirements....Is this correct? If so by how much?
As a nobody in a new alliance, surely you must get some reward for getting sovreinty of a system other than a big glowing bullseye on the map for some nasty big alliance's dreadnaught target practise...
(Yeah like we can afford capital ships or arrays etc!!  )
Oh, and I'm aware this is probably answered in a thread elsewhere, but please be nice...I rarely use the forums since I feel like a man sitting infront of volumes of encyclopedias - there's a great wealth of knowledge here if you have the free time, but I'd rather spend that free time in the game. Please dont troll me!! Whatever that means...
