Try running a webstream in the background.
Some ISP drop connections that do not use enogh bandwidth - and EVE works pretty fine even on a 'bad' 56k modem connection.

Stream some Eve Radio too, that should pump you up to at least 15-30k/sec

I have the same issue. It is particularly bad if I am in station viewing the market or writing an eve-mail. I usually have eve radio and vent running.

only had one disconnect so far today, but i'm lagging pretty bad at the min

I occasionally have disconnection issues as well but typically when it's happening it's because there's so much friggen cross-chatter from my neighbors.
Getting a new wireless router next paycheck which will hopefully alleviate the issue. Mine is over 2 yrs old and the newer models have much higher signal strengths which should clear my problems up.

well I'm not running a screen saver its DSL broadband not wireless. And it only started yesterday.

I had that issue some time ago.
It turned out to be my router. I had a DLINK POS and got a Linksys to replace it. It has been smooth sailing ever since.
I recommend you start a petition too. CCP was great at helping me when I was going through it, even though the problem wound up being on my end.

IF you have a dsl-router or your dsl-modem is on a router, you lose connection and you get a different IP from your providers ip-range, then it should be a failure of the dsl-connection, a problem with your provider or a broken dsl-modem/router.
If the IP doesn't change, I suppose the connection to your provider is stable and it isn't a DSL-problem. Then either something is wrong on your side like your computer or campling towards the dsl-router or on the internet, but not with the DSL-connection itself. ( Hope I don't simplify it too much)
I was afraid about getting an instable dsl connection myself, too. I've moved to a new home and ordered DSL-16000, read some horror stories and heard that some combined dsl-modems/routers have a lot of connection losses. That's why I ordered a simple modem in the end.
After a not so perfect start and a lot of waiting, everythings fine running now for almost 20 hours without losing the connection to my Provider once. Me happy. /sorry for the op.

I was having the same issue. I think I have found a work around. Subscribe to 4 or 5 BUSY chat channels, help etc.
See how that works for you. Looks like someone left a few zero's off of a timeout variable or something. Or the keep alive heartbeat or whatever is in cardiac arrest on the client? I dunno, but something is broken.
Check the known issues forums, there are MANY people with the issue now.
