Why do the implants from corpses magically disappear after the pod has been popped? The organic tissue would immediately boil then freeze off but the inorganic implants should still exist. Now why can't we make it so when you scoop a corpse up, you can simply reprocess it in order to salvage one or more implants?

One reason could be because of the natural radiation found in space would damage the delecate electronics of the implant.

During the Las Vegas 'EVE Gathering' Devs, Oveur, has explicitly stated that they would not allow Implants to be extracted from corpses, because they want fights, they want destruction, but they do not want a unilateral slaughter, just on the off chance that the corpse might have implants.

Edited by: Agent 24 on 23/10/2006 18:33:48 That thought came across too :). Just wanted a more "realistic" approach to the universe. But if people wanna slaughter they'll slaughter regardless, this just give them more motivation.

When water frezes it expands. Blood is mostly water. There is plenty of blood in the brain.
So eaither the blood will freeze, and its expansion will ***** the delicate parts of the implant. Or the liquid parts will boil off, leaving the solid parts as residue on the implants.
Since we are talking explosive decompressions, I won't be too suprised if the boiling away of the liquids is also violent to destory the delicate parts.
Then again, the implants can't be removed eaither. This suggests that eaither there aren't tools sensitive enough to remove an implant without causing serious damage to the implant. Or it could be that when its implanted, it customises itself to that persons brain chemistry, and such customisation is not reversable.

Hmm the first part doesn't make much sense to me but is logical. Blood plasma is essentially 90% salt and roughly 10% protein so the freezing point would be decreased significantly. But the customization to the neuronal activity is a very likely scenario. Too bad we couldn't find a way to reset it. I guess the point is mute because of the dev's comments but a man can dream, a man can dream. Thanks for input

'Dont want a unilateral slaughter'?
When is this *NOT* the case in 0.0 combat? If they can lock that pod they're darned sure going to pop it, whether it's a nuublet or anchient Pharoh of EvE.
