Im not sure how or why this is happening but i have a Rupture fitted with 650II's that is outgunning my Cyclone fitted with 720 II's.
I tested this using EMP at optimal on stationary targets. The both have tech 2 tracking comps, the cyclone has a target painter as well.
The 650 II's wreck for over 700 and the 720 II's wreck at only 480 max??
This is a big difference
Anyone know why?

Were the two guns fired on the same target with the same resistances for both occasions?

uhh Ruptures get a bonus to dammage and Cyclones don't.

As said above, you forgot the damage bonuses.
On the other hand: 650mm IIs have the advantage that they have smaller fitting costs, allowing you to fit lots of damage mods where you would normally have to put fitting mods. Add to this the slightly greater tracking and you sometimes have a gun that will outdamage its bigger version. The only time this is really useful is when doing missions or ratting. For pvp you normally go for the biggest gun with the biggest bang and make sure you are far away as possible from your target when you thumb the activation key.

Rupture get samage bonus, but Cyclone get an extra gun. So it evens out.
And with the cyclone you can attach 3 gyro's without hurting tank.

I prefer the 650s because anything beyond 20km for me is meaningless.
