I personally think this is waaaaay too stupid idea - if it is real. The single-shard nature of EVE is at the core of what this game is (or rather was).

What an incredibly dumb idea. Will there be a pvp flag as well, will this be the WoW server? Dont lose your ship on death, etc. |

Another MMO, which I won't exactly name ***cough*Rolf*cough*** has made a tidy profit from opening new servers, even when players of that MMO foretold great prophecies of doom if it did. For CCP releasing a new server would silence those who say EvE is unfriendly and unattractive to play due to the skill point gap, as well as bring in an influx of sales. After watching Players go completely ape stupid to join a new server in that other MMO I am confident CCP would do well if they made a new one here.
In my opinion I see the Big fish will still gobble up small fish and the new server will differ only in the details. A replay of many of the same dynamics and names we see on Tranquility, only with barges used for mining this time instead of Armageddons. It would be interesting to see how an EvE server would develop with the ships and Tech the game has now.... but it is the Players and not the Gear that determines a Servers' fate. |

That may be so, but I'd be seriously upset if I had to migrate to another server because it is the new sh*t in town and tranq would turn into a ghost town.
You know, content and stuff.
I just wanted to see the reaction of other players to this news, And until further notice from CCP I just say that I think I'll wait for the movie...

All I can say is, other games have tried this and they usually fade drastically. Some veterans holding on bitterly, others using their knowledge to crush the newbies hopes. New servers for fresh starts do not work.

It's a hoax. If CCP really wanted to "reboot" the player base, they would make T3 ships in all classes that were too over-powered and too smexy looking not to fly. The resultant skill point loss upon death would make us all n00bs again.
Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

For an April Fool's joke I think I'd prefer, not a Renaissance server, but a Next Generation server.
Don't send everyone back to start. Advance them forward to 300 million SP and a few billion ISK. Then the new players that think they should advance faster will learn that more skill points without the player skill is just a fast way to the ALOD list.
