Since i was very interested in how the new map whould work and how ccp integrated it into the client i went on the testserver to check it out.
I frapsed my first few moments of KALI and the (not so seamless) MAP.
Now this could be a setting that i missed in my first few moments, but what i found out is thats its not really seamless, but it scales in 3 "zooms". anyhow, here it is:
1152x864
3mbit
teh usual 
no fancy effects ,just about 4 seconds of copy and paste in premiere.

Very nice, will be much easier to scan down people now. And you can see gang mates on the system map, thats friggin awesome.

Very nice... Was it just me though, or were the trails of the drones visible on the system view and not just the in-flight view?

Ahh... It really IS awesome. The more I think of it... This will be awesome! EVE is awesome! Cant you see!? What other game is even close to be THIS cool huuuh!? (hehe fooling around a bit)

its look quite nice, but tbh i feel it was time wasted and could have been used better to sort out server lag issues, content, speeding up the kali deployment for what we really want *which is the new ships and stab \ ecm nerf, which again should have been sorted out within the first month of the new ecm changes!*
ive lost three ships to lag\node droppage in the last 2 weeks, think and i mean this with all due respect, CCP should have learnt to walk before it could run, the server can quite obviously not handle the 30,000+ concurrent users at one time.
More time and money spent on these problems would make me happy and alot of others happy too.

Maybe you don't know this, but server programming and UI programming is different things. Therefor that statement is pretty much useless imo.
There are problems throwing x amount of more resources on can't fix either, some just take _time_. Easy as that, and issues like these we got are not fixed in five minutes either. Not that I am saying they are good (they suck), but those guys making CONTENT (yes this is content!) is not the same ones making things run.

Omg.. the "system map" where you can see the location of everything = best thing ever.
Who cares if it's really seamless or not, this looks really good.

The download from eve files gives me a corrupt 1kb file, anyone got a mirror or is the fault my end?

ya can't right click from the forum here anymore since chribba put in a relay page now.
Click the link and you'll be sent to a download page, and there you can download the actual video.
Bet ya 1 isk that the corrupt 1k file you have downloaded is an html page.

in the end i went thru eve files and found the file that way.. worked fine
dont know if that was just luck or whatever

But yeah, the 1kb file is most likely the html page of the comment/rating/download of the file itself.
A normal click on the other link should have presented you with a nice page where you could right-click the movie (and at the same time leave your rating and comments).

wow chribba you did an amasing job there, i took a quick look at it, comments, amount of times downloaded etcetc,

They have different teams doing different things CCP are hardly going to sack needed staff in other areas to concentrate on server issues.
I think the map is very nice and they could probably add to it as well.
CCP have been great so far although what iv heard said about stab nerfs and probes being able to find cloaked ships i can only imagine what kind of hidden nerfs they plan on making as well so i can wait for the patch maybe when its due for my re-sub so i dont feel to gutted if the worst happens.
