Edited by: Chris TheNinjaPirate on 25/10/2006 07:20:25 Again, this is an alt. I made another post here a while ago about something that seemed like a bug.
This has GOT to be a bug.
I warped into a belt with my Vexor and found a Ferox 22km away. Target, scramble, launch drones. Fly closer, etc.
Even though this guy was running away as quickly as he could (I think he must have had WCS fitted), his missiles were doing NO damage to me. After he warped out the third time, he asked if I was using defenders. I am not, and told him so. He said that he was using thunderbolts and scourges.
Now my setup has a DC, but even so one volley of thunderbolts should have severely hosed up my shields. But I didn't get a scratch. Nor from the scourges. I checked my log. It showed a few hits from my railguns on him, but nothing else.
I was at the time less than 20km from him. Those missiles should have hit and done damage, yet... nothing.
WHY?!
I'm glad he got away, because that would have been a hideously unfair fight. I left him alone after that and promised that I would send him a note when I found out what was going on. I also submitted a petition to a GM to see what was going on.
EDIT: Maybe this is the wrong forum for this?

It he was warping the missiles do no damage even if he is just aligning. This has been in the game for as long as I can remember so I would expect that to be the reason.

yeah, he (the ferox) sounds kinda stupid from running from a cruiser in the first place. Even a passive tanking npc setup can probably kill you in time ffs
This corp is recruiting.

Meh, my vexors and thorax's wipe the floor with most battlecruisers, the thing you gotta remember is who would fly a Battlecruiser?
The older players mostly fly cruiser or battleship, Battlecruisers are in 90% of the time flown by players who aren't that "pro", not too many SP, not too much expirience (omg BATTLEcruiser must pwn!) etc etc.
That and, pimped pirate cruisers are RAWR!
And yes, i'm a tech I cruiser fanboi, sue me :P

Its not that they won't do damage, its that entering warp causes the missiles to lose target after so long, so if he fired and immediately tried to warp, the missiles would lose target and just fly off randomly to poof. The key is to let the missiles get about halfway to bad guy before warping. But then again, if you are gonna warp, why shoot the missiles in the first place?

Incorrect. As soon as you hit "warp to" the missiles can still hit but do no damage as you are 'leaving' the battlefield. Once you are In warp they will lose lock and fly off randomly but even when aligning you get this "feature" of doing no damage.

i bet people are planning to get into BCs again, especially in the light of the upcoming changes/ships.

Thats the eve gods punishing him for being a wuss and running away from a cruiser while in a ferox. In other words, hed probably already hit "warp to" the station where he keeps his spare underpants the minute he saw you on overview. From that point on, his missiles wouldnt hit you. Its the same thing that causes stealth bomber cruise missiles to lose lock a few seconds after you recloak. Basically they will continue to work for a few seconds, then stop. If hed been right on top of you, they probably would have hit.
You should have killed him.

Which is funny, because its the players with lots of skillpoints that can actually make battlecruisers worth flying.
Battlecruisers can do flat out scary damage in the right hands, for half the price of a battleship. And when they get their 20% agility buff... will be even better.

Call me paranoid but when I see a underclassed ship charging to attack (such as the vexor vs that BC)..I expect as soon as I engage that a fast moving group will enter local and own me.
Very little of the experience that I have had with pirates has been versus solo pilots. Its usually 2-5 man teams..and a heavy plate vexor can easily tank long enough for support to jump in warp to and own me.
If im not kit for fighting. even if the odds look overwhelming. I expect the trap and leave if possible. Ive been ganked a few too many times

Battlecruisers are great in a gang when you make use of warfare link modules, they realy do end up making a huge difference. Just dont focus flat out on dealing damage with a BC, your sort of a big target so you want to fit an amazing tank to keep yourself around to use the link modules.
The people without much experience arent just the ones flying BC's, they are the ones flying BC's solo.
