Hi, I am not a very big roleplayer but I do find it fun and entertaining in general. Now today I have been roleplaying towards another player and was a very ****ed off khanid towards an older amarr and this other player stopped roleplaying and was rather upset with me
Did you happen to offend other players while roleplaying ? What did they do ? Or what did you do (both players) to solution the situation ?
************ No more sig. No roleplay as they don't get it.

Don't get discouraged by one sour grape!
EvE has a pretty solid roleplaying community, and there's no reason why you should stop. I find that, without some good RP, the game just loses a certain level of immersion, and immersion is good, mmm'kay?
It's good to see new people trying their hand at roleplaying; however, there are a couple of things that you should remember:
1) Always, always, ALWAYS, keep roleplaying and real life seperate. It's perfectly acceptable for your character to hate someone else's character, and vice versa, but you should always remember that you are both playing a game, together. (When roleplaying with someone new for the first time, it might be a good idea, either before or after, to make sure they understand that you were just playing your character, and don't really hate them. Use double parentheses (( and )) to set off some OOC comments. Talk about your RP, what you thought worked well, what you thought didn't. Even if you despise them IC, you should regard them as friends OOC.)
2) Always be respectful and mindful of other people's roleplay. Make sure that you don't roleplay other people into a corner, or try to let your roleplay dictate what another character can do.
3) Always be polite and friendly when OOC. Again, while your character may hate theirs, and want to kill them and burn down their house/shack/space station, you should never hate the person behind the other's character. If you got together with some of your friends to play some D+D, even if you may play a chaotic neutral Rogue who turns against the party and tries to kill that lawful good Paladin that's just been rubbing him the wrong way, you'd never do that in real life because they're your friends. It's a little more difficult online, when you can't see the other person there, but you should still remember that, regardless of RP, you're both two people playing a game.
Anyway, if you'd like to get more involved in RP, there are tons of ways you can do so. Check out the Intergalactic Summit and ask around for RP channels in game. - - - Hitomi Ayame, Lady Marshal, Royal Knights of Khanid

That's the best part off D+D I feel (tabletop AD&D that is), when one off the party (and your friend) is playing a complete bastard, or a socially disfunctional char. (you know, the fighter with Intelligence 2 that bashes all he sees.) Good times, good times...
In Eve, be carefull, as you can't see the other person, don't take the RP to far, don't make harsh real life political comments, etc...

Speaking here as a very Anti role player...
In my opinion, rp is what you do wen you install eve and go into the game... the very game it self, requires you to roleplay... i see no need for extra theatrics..... such as what some roleplayers belive is nessary...
being in a "fake world"... as eve is.. running a corp, being a member of one... doing things for the corp... PvP against others.... That is RP.
the... you scumbag,,,bla bla bla... i sometimes get from an armarr rp player or the likes... well... just makes me wanna pod that person even more *lol*....
That said.. i do respect the RP community, and find it amazing that CCP dont do more to neurage, and foster the RP community better... How ever as long as a RP player gets that not every one sees RP in the light he does.. and can go 'outta' char wen speaking to Gamers that belives roleplay is what the eve world it self is... -
all in all....
Rp wen with other RP'ers... and if you wanna avoid unplesant happenings, dont Hardcore RP around the casual players =)

if you're roleplaying, resolve it through RP.. that is to say- if there's no cops around shoot the offending party, or demand moneytary reimbursement for your emotional trauma... (I've found these demands more often than not lead to physical trauma)

Your spot on with this.
The more hardcore roleplayer will mainly not speak using out of game references without some form of identification like (this is OOC) and will follow their faction as per the games mechanics. ie. not kill Blood Raider NPC when your supporting the Blood Raider faction etc.
There really isn't that much difference between your average player and roleplayers in Eve compared to other fantasy based games.
So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong and to strike at what is weak.

What I don't like is the roleplayers that try to force their views onto you, and talk down to you because they say "this is a RPG, it is stupid not to roleplay." Along that line but a bit more harsh.
The other day I was talking to someone who was going to roll a completely new character because he was amarr and didnt want to fly amarr anymore. This person had awesome attributes and around 14 mil sp. I tell him too just cross train to a different race's ships. He started ranting and raving on what a moron I was, that this was a roleplaying game and that only idiots dont fly their race's ships. Oh by the way he only had 1 account so all that training on the other character would go to waste Yeah I know, it wasnt me that was the moron. I was like hey its your dime if you want to waste a year a training have at it. Handicapping yourself in the name of RP isnt too smart either.

I see alot of hide behind the RP tag with greifers in this game. just because you RP does not mean anyone else has to except your actions when your doing it.
Nor does that mean they have to respond to you in a role playing manner. RPing is an optional way of playing.
That said there are many good role players who have fun in their circle of friends. Not everyone abuses the RPing side of things.

On a similar note, PIE has a policy of only allowing Amarrian characters into the corp, and only flying Amarrian ships.
Now, you may consider this to be a massive handicap, and in some ways, you'd be right.
But we were the fourth corporation to be created on day 1 of Eve, and we're still going strong.
Yes, we do handicap ourselves, but in doing so we give ourselves focus, we avoid tasting the flavour of the month, and more importantly, we have fun.

Actually, roleplaying is a very good way of avoiding taking things personally. To possibly oversimplify things, the roleplayer sees conflict as being something between his character and another character. A non-RPer is more likely to see the conflict as being between himself and another player.

I feel your pain, Rina. I'm quite a hardcore roleplayer myself, and sometimes, you run into people who don't really understand the difference between IC and OOC...
All I can say is don't give up, keep roleplaying whenever you find people who do. And keep the good ones in your adressbook and the bad ones out of it :D
You could also check out the "Capsuleers Lounge" channel. It's a roleplaying forum that simulates a bar where people can come and relax when out of pod. Good fun in there when people start flocking in ^^
