Edited by: Radix Salvilines on 26/10/2006 12:04:41 Well this feature may help in organising corporation ops (no more "Im afk", "Sorry im doing something in RL"), but on the other hand its another limitation to members privacy (Like the option to view members hangars). I remember still when i was just a regular member not a CEO and this is was not liked when someone is checking my assets.
This option either should be available only to CEO (not directors - to limit who can view members assets and locations), or make all members decide if they allow being infiltrated (a switch in options, allowing the CEO to look into their hangar or track where the member is). That way those members willing to participate in building a corp will leave this option on to help its CEO to manage the corp. Those who wish to do freelancing will leave this option off and wont be afraid of their privacy.
Additionaly i think a good option to add would be 48h peroid for members that wish to leave the corp - u dont do that often and 24h is imho not enough to verify everything. Also not only issuing roles and titles will reset the counter but aswell taking something from corporate hangars (that will deal with corp thieves). Taking from corporate hangar anything would result in one week waiting period for leaving the corp (no matter that this member scrapped all roles from himself). And instead of tracking members locations there should be a log from which can a member in hangar tooked a thing, from which division and when (how much perhaps) (not only logs on cans - they dont show up if someone is taking not locked items).

This is the future bud, gotta accept the consequences for the advantages of being in a corporation. If you don't like the fact that your corp or any corp for anyone else can go say "hey, we're under attack in 0.0, and you're in. uh. a dominix, in lowsec somewhere, pirating.." and I think that's an aswesome feature because every corporation has this problem with it's members.

Something to hide?
Firstly, this is a feature CEOs have wanted for ages. Secondly, a director is virtually the same as the CEO.
The ship they were in seems a bit daft, but I see no problem with the rest of it.

Man...I'm going to be able to see how long those 5 inactives have been inactive? This will be awesome...no more booting people just because they played at a different time and no one ever saw them! =D ---

tbh i've never bothered to look in any of our corps members hangers and even the one time i dropped something into a members hanger, it was at his request but i didn't pay attention to what he had, but then i guess it's all down to trust in the end.
i've never worried about someone seeing whats in my hanger though, if it was something i wanted to hide i'd just put it in another station which doesn't have a corp office
And it's not like you can take stuff out from a members hanger. |

then perhaps when someone wants to join a corp he can check the corp's show info, look at attributes tab and there he can see if the corp has the infiltration option on (allowing to see members hangars and tracking their locations). Just like the tax rate is visible.

Most corps in eve already have their own ways of keeping track of their members. we can already look into each other's hangers, and don't forget about the map option to show corpmates in space. One of the most usefull things about this feature is that it shows the last login date for all members, making purging the inactives much easier. Other than that, it doesn't give us any 'big brother' powers we didn't already have.

the abillitie to look in others corp hangars IS restricted.
For someone to look insode other members hangar they need the security officer role. If you got a prob with that speak to your CEO as its up to him if members should have that access or not.

Y'know, this puts in mind of the old comedy routine about not wanting to be a member of any club that would have me.
Out there in the real world, computers blow up, job projects attack, kids get sick, wives go nuts and start packing to move to Cleveland, cable modems die and ComCast technicians spend seventeen days sleeping on your living room couch, all sorts of stuff happens. The idea of "purging" folks just because they haven't shown up in a few days or a few weeks -- no matter that they were your arms brother, your m8te, your fellow warrior of destiny -- just seems crazed and rude to me.
One of the reasons I'll always be in my own small corp of real world friends and our alts, I guess. I'm just pointing out that this is one of the least attractive features of the big corps with big goals.
No derail intended. Back on topic: as the CEO of my own small corp, I find the new feature handy and not intrusive. It's a management tool, nothing more. Everybody who is active in my corp is a director, so everybody can track everybody. It's just handy.

Groucho Marx, gotta love it.
As for purging inactives, i'm talking about people who haven't logged on in monthes. I understand, i think better than most, that real life always takes precidence over video games, and I would want all the members of my corp to feel the same way. Nevertheless, booting inactive players is something that just needs to be done. Otherwise, you end up with 300 members on paper and only ever see the same ten people in corp chat.

Very true. However, I am looking forward to this feature because I have 8 members or so in my corp that I have not seen in years. But have they been semi active when I haven't been looking?
It's frustrating to tell people that no, I don't have 10 active members, I have 1.
