Hi! We are planning a mass test on Singularity on Thursday, April 9th, at 17:00 UTC (= EVE time).
What exactly is being tested?
- SKINs
- New effect for the POS forcefiedl
- New building effect for POS structures
How to connect to Singularity for this test:
Test steps: Probably similar to:
- Meet in FD-MLJ in station
- Switch SKINs in station
- Undock and warp to X-BV98 gate
- Switch SKINs
- Jump to X-BV98
- Warp to POS beacon
- Shoot the control tower
- Watch while new tower is anchoring
- Align to Poitot gate
- Fleet 1: Jump to Poitot and setup gate camp
- Fleet 2: Jump to Poitot + fight at the gate
What else should I know?
- We will be moving players to the test system - join the channel massmoveme
- 2M Skill points will be awarded on Singularity for this mass test
- Bring many different ships with SKINs (with activated SKIN licenses)

I really like the new POS Shield, looks so much better. It is a little off centered, top cone coming down a little to the right and bottom cone off to the left. Rotating a degree or two will fix that.
POS effect a little cheesy, looks like a black circle that just gets smaller until the POS is fully exposed. Try a clocking effect like how ships de-clock with the POS.
The Array setup effects that looks like lasers is really cool, keep that one.
Last thing. I will participate in the mass test, last time I did not get my skill points which was disappointing but I really don't care about that. |

No, and a mirror won't happen anytime soon i believe since it wasn't a long time ago since the last one (usually 3 months before each mirror)
You can re-activate any new toons by asking a mod/CCP dev here on the forums , others usually just do that |

So.....the obvious question....why are you devoting valuable dev time to 'make pretty' a system that you've stated you are replacing *soon*...seems like a waste of resources, but what do i know. |

These features will be part of the new structures, I would imagine.
they are just putting them in to test before putting it in the new models. |

So are you saying with the new structures we will also have posses as optional structures ?

Agree. How does extra SP on a test server benefit players???

Just like lklivexyx says above, "What is in it for me?".
1. You create a game that at its very core is ALL about investing time into your toons. It is the basis of the game per CCP design with much emphasis of tribalism, piracy, and materialistic agendas.
2. We do pay CCP both for access. (And within the term "access", maintenance and development is directly implied & expected, else the game itself would wither as individuals & eve communities would move on to something else ....with the same expectations for their money.)
3. Forget about the Singularity skill points..... you can't even offer up a nice ship, a blueprint , item or nothing in the regular server............WHERE IT MATTERS???? Nothing??? Actually kind of insulting, considering you are the ones asking for help.
4. No need to get on the bandwagon of "you should help because, it is for the betterment of the game" garbage for the exact reason stated in #1.
In the end, I am absolutely sure you will find enough "self-less" players for your test, However I do believe my time would be far better spent mining some Veldspar in a rookie ship in null sec. |

They will bring out the new structures one at a time and could end up being a year and a half project or longer, with the first structure coming before 2016, so for the next several months before they have a new structure to put on Singularity they are going to test several different things on the old structures for our feedback.
At the same time it keeps the current POS system looking good until their replaced. |

2m skill points on the test server can be quite useful, if you use the test server for testing things before trying them on TQ - it's a nice way to fill out skills you've never trained on the main server, but want to experiment with anyway.
If you're one of the 99% of players who never bother with Sisi, on the other hand, it's pretty much useless to you... but that's not CCP's fault. |

Christ you people asking for more from CCP sound like a bunch of whiny 4 year olds. Mass tests are always conducted in this manner, the reward is always SP for the Singularity server only. Giving 2 mil SP on Tranquility for 30 minutes of dicking around is an incredibly stupid notion; the few who get into the test would get an unfair boost over everyone else and the rest of the server would be crying out for blood because they couldn't get the same.
If you need an incentive that makes it less obvious you're bad at this game you're in the wrong place. Mass tests are about helping the devs we support create a better game for the rest of us. Sod off to a different game. We don't need your kind. |

Skill points for a test server as a reward, no thanks. Being new to the game something like this may have given me a reason to continue subscribing had the rewards been for tranquility, thus far i see no real reason to stick around though. With close to a year of sub time required to even really get started on a half enjoyable character and several years to reach any real level of skill and still have to be very focused in training to be moderately efficient, it just feels fruitless. With games like star citizen and Elite dangerous getting started i see no real sense in making such a long term financial investment just to get started. This game really is good, but there is no incentive for a new player to stay. Wish Id taken an interest in this when it was still relatively new., but that ship sailed along time ago. People can reply to this with sarcasm and inform me this is not the place for this post fine, but there is a strong trend of new players bailing after just a few months and for good reason. Now you can all feel superior and tell me how my kind isnt welcome here, pat youreselves on the back a bit maybe, youre hero cookies just came out of the oven, still hot so be careful. |

I attended using the Mac OSX EVE Online client. System 10.9.5 with 32 GB of RAM.
My EVE Online client crashed (raised exceptions) twice during the Mass Test. Once on the gate to X-BV98 while everyone was changing skins, and once while the POS was being shot at.
Both crash dump files were located afterwards and were zero bytes in size. Your own article at https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Reporting_Crashes#Mac_OS_X says "As we see this quite often: Crash dumps with zero bytes hint toward the client running out of memory."

Well, CCP in general has always made Eve eat through RAM...my clients doubled their RAM footprint today while fighting...not sure what CCP has against RAM...but it does seem to be a serious beef as once the client eats the RAM, it never lets it go again...until you restart, but that is only a workaround since the client will always slowly eat ram during a log-in peroid |

Mass test notes:
Skins: It all seemed to work for me. But when we were all doing in at the POS, my fps would have sharp drops. From 6 to 1. POS building: All good. Very nice. FPS in the PvP battle: 0.5 to 1.5 Bugs: My ship was not visible as I stood on the balcony. Also, its hologram did not show, either at the balcony, or in CQ proper. Want a bug report? Many people shot me, but I never saw any red, not the slightest sliver, on my HUD. I do not know how to reproduce this, so I don't know if a bug report is of any use. |

I tried to attend this masstest with 4 clients running. Two of them disconnected so that only left me with two supercap alts.
Using SKINS worked.
But i don have a suggestion that you should be able to change skins if you're in a supercapital/titan even if you are targeted.

When warping from the destroyed POS to Poitot, the overview bugged and kept showing everything that was originally on grid, even over 60AU away when I landed on the stargate.
I was also unable to jump through the stargate, despite attempting to several times. stopping my ship and reaproaching didn't fix it, i was forced to jump to the cyno instead of using the stargate.

A lot of visuals didn't want to work properly. skin changing in space didn't show for me (no idea if anyone else could see it) my guns cycled, but I saw no fire or even turret turning from them.
after the mass test started, and quite some time after the conclusion & dock up , the client has been stalling for 10+ seconds at a time, clicking anything simply made windows point out its not responding. it eventually recovered. , only to stall again a minute or so later.

- Skins - All looked great and made t1 hulls shiny and I encountered almost no bugs at all. (The one I will describe below)
- Mass skin change at gate - No problem at all except huge performance drop due ship count.
- POS Effect - Worked for me and there's nothing more to say but I would better focus your effort on gameplay than graphic tweeks that makes the game hardware intensive even with performance settings (thats just my personal opinion)
- Performance - This huge test made my pc struggle. I think the main problem is memory that's not being freed even with disabled cashing. My performance went worse with every minute and after we made it to the gatecamp position I had to switch my settings to absolute minimum to just look around the battlefield and click my overview.
- Bug - Every time I purchased new ship I changed the skin and undocked, the skin stayed default although the fitting window told me the new skin is applied. Worth noting is that I had the "Inspace Skinning effect" option disabled. Bug got fixed after I docked and undocked again.
