Today I had a job that required some firepower, some realistic presence on the battlefield. I had four Starbases to pull down, and being stuck in one of the biggest choke points in Genesis, I had quite a bit of pirates that could ruin my day, so I called in some mercenary firepower. Turbulent Subversion was one of the first corps I came across that could handle the job, only three hours of camping was not something a majority of corporations would undertake, but I figured it was worth a shot, apparently so did they.
Two hours before the planned operation the first pilots started filling in, contracts were reconfirmed and half an hour before the planned operation the final details were reconfirmed with the CEO. They took upon my offer to setup a cyno field for them in the system, and while not necessary they jumped in two carriers to escort my operation, I provided my own for the extra support, which really didnÆt end up being necessary.
I was frankly a bit nervous, this was the first time I actually hired mercenaries, and the first time I would be having billions of my assets in space with people IÆve never met before, so at the beginning I was just as worried about how the mercenaries would perform as much as the locals, the Pirate Coalition.
The entire corporation came in with mostly Tech II ships about five minutes after the carriers jumped in, but by that time the carriers managed to nail one of Crest Techs Megathrons, they were working on an Armageddon, but apparently itÆs in fashion to fit eight Warp Stabs on these ships now.
The Starbase unanchoring proceeded as planned; the first hour had no real interesting occurrences, after the elimination of any resistance the locals posed the POSs were being taken back to the station then somebody manages to pop up.
Well, I take the nice opportunity to put a nice bounty on the guy for anybody who manages to take his pod down and deliver his corpse.

At this point his ship and pod is taken down by a swarm of hungry interceptors.
The rest of the night was pretty smooth, 0o0Preatorian0o0 keeps up the local smacktalk, and the rest of the operation finishes pretty smoothly, all POSs were taken down and nothing was lost, at least nothing that I didnÆt want to die in the first place.
On a side note, at this point our favorite smacking dingle berry has been sighted flying to Yulai in a shuttle.

Please read the post , we were hired to ensure the safety of 4 POS structures during their removal, this operation has been planned for a while, the client had no way of knowing wether 2 or 22 hostiles could be in system.
The operation took nearly 3 hours altogether, plenty of time for someone to organise a comprehensive response and to try to gank the towers . that is why we were hired.

it was a pleasant little op and our pleasure. I think we did our job, brining enough force to discourage a move against the contractor. the only ships we aggressed were a thorax (stabbed), geddon (stabbed) Megathron (killed) shuttle (podded[thoraxpilot])

We scrambled to respond to unknown cynos in system, and I happened to be in my sniper BS, which has one stab. ONE, not EIGHT. Your "swarm of angry interceptors" didn't even reach me before I warped, since I know how to align. The crow managed to get into scrambling range, but as mentioned, I fit a stab. One was sufficient to make my way out.

clearly your under the impression that a "shuttle" and a "pod" are ships... Im gonna have to disagree, shuttles are chump change, and pods are free...

Pods maybe be free but clones are not !!!!
Looks to me like the mercs did a good job controlling the outlaws and the system and the outlaws that died are now crying about it, Zero's "I was going to blow my ship up anyway" comment looks pathetic.
If this is an example of these pirates in action, all smack and very little else then they are more lame than most pirates.
if it had been me I would have been congratulating them on a job well done, but it seems there is no honour at all left in the pirate profession

If its not a stupid question, how much would it cost to hire a whole corps in tech 2 ships for 3 hours?
to be worth risk/reward with those ships on the line it must run into millions and millions

Just a note, but I've been working in near proximity to TBSV for...what? Six months now? ... and have found them to be professional and excellent in all their dealings. I would vouch for them and their skills. Will they kill you if you're a random target? Absolutely. Can you trust them with an Occator full of T2 BPOs if they were paid to escort you?
Yeah, honestly, I probably would... even though I might gut check a little first. ;)
Great guys, who will do a job for you or against you with absolutely no hard feelings either way.

Req, do yourself a favor and stop talking now, your corp has definitely shown a few things in this thread:
1) You don't bother to read the OP, and reply blindly without knowing wtf you are talking about. 2) You fit stabs 3) You smacktalk in local
Any respect I had for your corp just went down the drain, please read the OP and get a clue.

Don't judge PC by one corp. PC is simply a bunch of pirates that have just agreed not to shoot each other. There is no leadership to the alliance, nobody in the alliance that tells the other corps what to do. It's as if a ton of corps just set each other to blue. You could run into a corp that is all stabs, and one that is all ECM, one that dishonors ransoms, one that is highly skilled, then one that sucks. You never know what to expect. =============================================== We are Watching You. |

Quote: Just because they did it in expensive ships doesn't make them an uber omgwtfpwnforceofdoom.
And we certainly dont claim it does
I think the OP is our clients way of thanking us for what he considers a job well done and a reccomendation.
Was it just a blob?
This operation had been planned for a while, the system had been observed and the amount of pilots and type of ships was selected on the basis of the intelligence gathered.
Despite the recce's we obviously have no way of knowing until the night just how many possible hostiles will be in system, or wether during the course of a 3 hour operation anyone would be able to mount a serious threat to our clients assets.
As it happens the night was quiet, no-one managed to get a gank fleet together (to be honest I dont think the guys in there even noticed the POS's coming down ) and the client not only got his expensive gear out of the system, he also got the corpse of one of the pirates he wanted as a keepsake
does all this make TBSV the uber Merc corps of Eve? or does it just show that TBSV can be relied upon to do what a client wants, that we are trustworthy with millions of isk worth of clients assets, and that we are capable of carrying out the operations we plan.
the 2nd, I think is the point the OP (our client) is making.

I never said you were claiming that point, I said that bascially the way the OP said it, it made it look like PC jumped into the system with many ships and got owned and podded and totally destroyed when all you did was destroy like one ship. Sure you did your job right and sure its understandable to go on the forum and advertise your mercenary ways so more people would hire you, but to try to make PC look bad on the forum when you didn't actually do anything to them that is of note really lacks class. =============================================== We are Watching You. |
