Just curious, are there any other unsharded games out there ? Like eve, on world/galaxy ....
A friend of mine pointed dungeons and dragoins to me but when I saw it was sharded ....... just turns me off so to say.

Incorrect.
World War II Online (or WW2OL, and I think maybe a/k/a Battlefront Europe) has been unsharded, no zoning, and is a huge persistent battlefield encompassing most of Western Europe. Has been since..erm..2001 I think.
World War II Online ------------------------------------------------ This sig is mine. There are others like it, but this one is mine alone. Mods keep out, or I will drop trou and sprinkle some tinkle in your Cheerios! -I don't eat Cheerios. -ReverendM |

Edited by: Dark Shikari on 27/10/2006 13:40:31 Shattered Galaxy is a relatively small game and its 2D (an MMORTS) but its basically unsharded. There are two planets, a new players' and a veterans', and theoretically that is "sharded", but its very limited.
Its the only MMOG I play other than EVE.

No unsharded means one server. WoW isnt unsharded since its has multiple servers same for EQ. EVE is unsharded since it is only one server for everyone who plays apart from the chinese server which is a completely different story and is only done for legal reasons -----------------------

GuildWars isn't sharded like the moajority of other online games. It's simply split into three...Euro, US & Korea. Everyone plays on one of those three, within each of those there aren't any more shards like other games. There are however "zones" within the game but you can flick between them quite easily. Also there are international "zones" which enable anyone from Europe, USA or Korea to play together. Also I believe the PvP areas in game are sorta international...or at least anyone can play anyone. -------------

it is sharded, but the shards are "connected" somewhat?

This is an epic game where all you start out with is a few seeds. You have to plant those seeds and wait until they grow into trees. Then you chop down those trees, make them into planks, and build an outhouse. Fill that outhouse with poo until it explodes. Repeat.
The PvP is intense in this game. You can chop someone's fence down and raid their farm by pooing in all their outhouses and stealing their radishes! But watch out, if they find you they can fence you in, which is pretty much permadeath! --------

Testing it now... Blowing people up with poo sounds like fun.

those MMO games that are so small that sharding isnt an issue, do those even count? EVE's unshardedness is slightly more interesting then, say, some small MMO.
