Is there a crow pilot out there alive that would not give up 10-20% ARMOR hp, in order for a 30%ish, speed boost? More boost even, if mwd speed rigs stack with acceleration control.
How is that even close to balanced compared to the armor tanking inties?

Some rigs mess with armor, some shields.
Besides, since when do inties tank, lol. If you are getting hit much odds are you are dead.

No. every single one that makes a ship go faster that I looked at effected only armor.

Yes.

Yes, the speed rigs do all seem to effect armor. However everything that has anything to do with ECM, jamming, targeting, tracking disruptors, etc, hurt only shields.
So some types of modules hurt shields, some armor. Seems fair.

Edited by: Elve Sorrow on 27/10/2006 11:34:40 Not quite. Every ship that has a use for those ECM etc rigs is penalized on its shields. They tend to, err, shieldtank.
However, everyone benefits from speed, especially at frigate level, and only the armor tankers get hurt.
Anyway this was brought up before. And frankly, having everything affect their counterpart would be rather boring. The way the bonus/penaltys are setup, they do add a bit of flavor.
And make the Vaga even better, but hey, i fly the things too so screw that.

err...One rig for speed and another for cap performance for my crows. 5.5km/s and I'll be able to hold a 20km scram on a target abit longer. I'll take it.

Velocity rigs affect armour, armour rigs affect velocity. Slap both on your armour tanking ceptor and get a small bonus to both, with no disadvantages.

Your arguementation is seriously flawed! The ship that uses its mids for ECM is not gonna use them for shield tanking anyway and will use its lows for armor tanking. ECM + armor raven anyone?!
The rigs are totally useless for Amarr and Gallente ships

So fit another style of rig- astronautics rigs are not the only flavor nor even the only good flavor. Drone rigs penalize CPU. Turret rigs penalize grid. Targeting speed/range rigs penalize shields. Etc.
Maybe, the devs considered that Gallente blasterboats with speed rigs might be a touch overpowered. IMO the armor hit on astro rigs makes perfect sense, and I say that as a Matari with >half my ships armor tanked.

Edited by: Fogy on 27/10/2006 14:10:34 and i though mwd/ab was a midslott module.. gues that afects armor aswell?
on the other hand.. there is no viable shieldtanking settup for ceptors.. only one nearly worth fitting would be the medium t2 extender one on a crow.. gimping your tackling abilities... but then again... sig radius ftl.
so.. there is NO decent shield tanking settup for ceptors.. and speed mods gimps your armor tanking abilities.. wtf are you whining about again!?
in the whole picture it makes NO sence.
EDIT: if your talking about speed rigs for bigger shipps: theres the only bigg shipps that can fitt a speed rig + shield tank and benefit from it (speed and tanking abilities) would be the vaga and the domi.....
Cheers! Fogy

Orly?
3272,5 shield on a Crow and a flat 30% speed boost with no real penalty in return for a medslot that Claws and Crusaders doesn't even get. Note that Crow is already the fastest interceptor in combat as it don't require things like tracking to hit its targets.
Hardly gimp if you ask me.. will make Light Missile Crows even more untouchable.

Meanwhile, ceptors who don't care about armor hp can fit a cap rig, turret/gun rig, or whatever instead of the armor rig and get even more bonus, aye?
