right now, there is simply no reason to fit ECCM over ECM. even with the coming nerf, ECM is still the best ewar module you can fill your mids with.
to give people a reason for fitting ECCM instead of ECM, give ECCM a 25% scanning resolution boost on top of the sensor strength boost. this can be justified as a compensation for the target re-lock time required after each successful ECM jamming.
this change will turn ECCM into something more than just a passive module that everyone talks about, but nobody is willing to fit instead of ECM itself.

spot on, eccm needs to boost some aspect of the ship other than strength if ship sensors.
sensor boosters counter damps, but also increase your lock range and scan res tracking computers counter tracking desrupters but also let u hit further ans track better
ECCM boosts ur ships sensors and ... well thats it

I've gotta say its a good idea. Not too big of a boost that ECCM become better than sensor boosters, but still an incentive to actually fit the lousy things...

Aggreed, but only if said bonus was removed from Sensor Booster. That modules far too overpowered as it is. -----------------------------------------------

I agree... There's only one situation I fit an ECCM mod, and that's when I fit ECCM and 2 scrams, a full armour tank, and sit there as bait holding on to two battleships!
With a second bonus like this, I'd probably fit it much more, to accompany a SB... _________________________________________________________ http://www.murkeye.com/images/sigs/felysta2.jpg Signature filesize exceeds max limit of 24000 bytes. Mail us if you have questions -Eldo |

No because that makes it a partial counter to sensor damps as well.

Boohoo, it still leaves the (arguably) most importsnt bit of sensor damps, the range part unaffected.
And think about this, he could have jsut as easily have fit a sensor booster ( always usefull) or ECM in that spot, far far worse to you.

If you want to boost ECCM (and it's not THAT bad idea, however since ECM gets nerfed so my Rook on Kali/Revelations Testserver only have 33% of current strength it might be too much)
If ECCM still need a boost after Kali, I'd suggest a 2nd bonus: reduced jam time (5 seconds for active and 2,5 seconds for passive with stacking penalties)

Here is the Kali boost to ECCM for you: the sensor strength is now used to determine success chance for scanning of your ship, the more it is the less the chance to appear in scan results. so ECCM now protect you both from being jammed and from being scanned. Looks like a boost to me, and btw conjunctives prices were raising since kali.

There's no need for ECCM at all since Revelations. ____________________ A gentleman is someone who can play the bagpipe, but who does not. |
