Haven't been able to get on Sisi and actually move my character up to Syndicate so, for anyone who has got on and tested some things...
Just curious how the Tempest (specifically the AC variety) has faired with all the changes in Kali... Does the removal of the speed penalty on Hail significantly help matters? Does it stand a chance against a blaster Megathron with the nerfed ECM? Blaster Rokh? Abaddon? etc...
How about in fleets... is the Tempest as close as it looks on paper to the Maelstrom for fleet battles? How does it do against the longer range Rokh? Abaddon? etc...
Discuss.

I'm a bit unhappy about the Hyperion being similar to the armor-tanked AC Tempest (same slot layout, it's a "fast BS" as well) with better damage and tanking ability I hope i can test them soon.

With artillery in particular being 'alpha strike' based the Maelstrom will be better for people who want to fly in, fire a volley or two, then fly out.
The Tempest however will always be better in lengthy battles because of its bonus's and the Maelstrom doesn't out damage it in the first few volleys by much anyway.
The Sheild boost bonus on the Maelstrom is a little useless because only tanking pvp-ers will use it and the rest of eve are left with a second bonus which is useless to them. However i was messing about on the test server with a sheild tanked Tempest before Kali and although you are left with no slots for webbers/scrams/jammers etc it can withstand a heck of alot of damage. Plus you can hit at 1km-20km with EMP and you can run 3 gyro's for a very high dps. With this in mind and applied to the Maelstrom a sheild tanking version with AC's could be very hard to break unless your fighting alot of enemies or a full gank set-up megathron.
For me being a 1400mm T2 artillery user i think i will be sticking with the Tempest, although im very worried about how im going to fare with the HP increases on all ships. Its going to make the whole 'alpha strike' speciality of the minmatar artillery boats near useless and im just going to be left with a very low dps ship.
I will reserve 'whining' about this until Kali is released onto TQ as there are alot of issues people have brought up which simply have to be changed from what they are now on the test server.
How the HP boost will effect 'alpha strike' and the Javelin Torp nerf are things that nearly the whole of eve are agreed on (for a change) so CCP will have to listen and change some figures or there will be a siege of CCP HQ

While the hail speed penalty was removed, i believe there are a few other 'bonuses' that you should look at , that will show you that hail will suck, look for yourself:Linkage
