Hamfast Gallente Lightfoot Industries	Posted - 2006.10.27 21:21:00 - [1] I have sent out 3 "Buddy Program" emails to 3 friends that have grown disillusioned with the MMO's they were playing... 2 paid for their accounts soon after starting, joined out player Corp and are having fun... Here is the problem, I was looking over the shoulder of one of my friends when he brought up the page that shows his character and realized how pitiful his attributes are, I asked and was told how the buddy Program did not allow him access to the full player character creation, just "Pick your race, here you go, play"... I can tell you, his attributes are pitiful, he wanted to go the "Hunter/Fighter/Security" route, so his prime and secondary stats are Perception and Will power...that both started at 4... no way to create that fighter he wanted... some friend I turned out to be. I would add that unlike the other MMO's I have played, Eve is not one to "Learn to play on your first Character, then roll up your main" because of the real time skill advancement (no time is lost unless there is no training being done). Noob in training...

Posted - 2006.10.27 21:38:00 - [4] this is a shot in the dark, but it's my guess; when you're making a new character the fourth (maybe, somewhere between 3rd and 6th) screen has a slider in the bottom right corner, I was told that if you picked anything but custom there you got a pretty weak character. I just sent my friend a buddy trial and he started w/a gallante->gallante w/good attributes and frigate 4, so I'd lean towards "user error" (not saying your friend is dumb, saying that the interface is complex and confusing). Letouk Mernel	Posted - 2006.10.27 21:41:00 - [5] You don't need to finish the char creation process, really. If you just want to test, choose the "custom" option at the bottom, and then pick various combinations of races, attributes, and schools; the character creation screen will keep a running/updated total of your attributes at the bottom. Once you get to Step 9 (upper right corner of your screen), just back out to the beginning and choose a different race/combo. As long as you don't get to Step 10, the character won't be created, so you can pretty much test everything without having to wait 10 hours to delete.
