Edited by: BLAIYNE on 27/10/2006 21:57:06 OK, now hear me out on this one. I've had a lot of time to think, sat here in my Raven in the middle of 0.0 (some would say too much time), and I've come up with an idea.
Now I hear that Warp Core Stabs are to be nerfed shortly (edited to remove plainly wrong conclusions) If you can lock and kill someone before they bugger off, that's only fair.
However, Eve is all about balance - so if warp core stabs are nerfed, then so should warp scramblers and disruptors - it's only fair, after all.
But how should we nerf these modules I hear you cry, and yet retain balance? Well, I'm glad you asked me that question. What I propose is a fair and equitable solution. The person operating the warp scrambler/disruptor should have a 50/50 chance of a critical power overload, causing their ship to explode.
Just think of the fun! A whole new profession would be spawned - people who would purposely seek out gate camps to try and make them explode, thereby enabling them to collect the loot!
A whole new series of tournaments could be started - people only armed only with warpscramblers/disruptors would battle it out, until the last one was left unexploded to collect the loot (er... everyone elses warp scramblers/disruptors)
And pirates are constantly complaining of boredom or a lack of prey. A whole raft of new pilots would head for low sec systems, and pirates would have the added exitement of not knowing whether they would explode at any second!
So come on CCP - do the unexpected - adopt random explosions as a module penalty!
Now where did I leave my bottle of Jack Daniels - I need some more "inspiration".

This idea was blatantly stolen from me.
Only it was to do with WCS's. My idea was, that for every WCS you had on, you had a 1% chance to explode whenever activating a high slot item. So if you had the standard BE raven setup (the old one, I know you only use 4 now ) then you would have a 5% chance to explode everytime you fired a gun. I think this makes it so they can't be used in combat, but they're still perfectly fine for non-combat thigns (transporting or whatever)
Causing scramblers to do this, however...well I really hope you're joking. It's easy enough to avoid combat as it is.

I was somewhat serious with my idea
But I do agree that random explosions, especially when it happens to stab *****s, would be funny to watch

To be honest, it would be hilarious if CCP implimented this on Singularity for a week, unannounced, during the Kali testing. I'd probably throw in some isk to get a video of the spontaneous explosions if that happened.

You're either a wickedly funny joker, or stupid. I hope the former
Seriously, WCS's were nerfed because they were extremely over-powered in comparison with Scrams. If you plan on nerfing both, why bother doing anything?
The fact of it is (or so I gather CCPs opinion of said fact of amtter is, in any case) that if you plan on fighting, you should be risking your ship. Period. Don't want to risk a ship, don't fight. WCS can still be used on ships which don't intend to fight just as easily, but if I couldn't fit a Scram on my ratting ships, how do you think I'd ever actually pop those nasty Player Pirates who like to jump out from behind rocks and shout "boo" with the aid of an artillery piece. A vote for a Scram nerf is a vote for safer pirates -----------------------------------------------

actually, WCS's were nerfed so they could not be used as an offensive module, mainly only in travel setups.
Since scramblers are the counters, they should get the opposite nerf, only in all travel setups. Like 50% penalty if the ship does not fit a gun/missile.
