Hi All
The game has been on for well over 6 months now and I thought I would post about some of the more colourful characters I have encountered in game.
Indeed as the characters are what makes the game to be true. Who are your top 5 favorite ones you have heard of or encountered? This is a fun thread and also a bit of an ego boost for guys that work very hard at developing interaction with their characters in game and in their playstyle..
Mine are
1. Soul Reaver
Man I have heard about this guy a lot. I have encountered him a few times and heard of him lots with his encounters often against ridiculous odds. I even know of a time in the old Venal wars when he went up against at least 7 SPVD and TTI. Engaged them and still managed to escape intact! Always a gent even under loss of a BB. A very very well played character indeed. Possibly amongst one of the best PvPers in game to. I dont think he has ever lost a 1 on 1.
2. Setec
Ah yes a pirate :) and why not he is a great character and one of the first pirates to actually pirate like a real gent. A Great pvper and tactician and a gent of the pirate fraternity indeed. One to watch long term to see what become s of him. A great leader for SPVD which is reflected in their reputation I think.
3. Morkt Drak
Man who has not heard of Morkt in EVE? Again a real gent and a very well played character in game. I hear he is an ex copper to in RL and it shows in his play style and professionalism. What would we do without Morkts specials at BBB?? I was so sad when he left and so happy when he came back. This makes a great character when he affects how you feel and you miss him when hes gone.
4. Jort
Yes another Pirate I know. But probably the most famous character in game to date! (my opinion of course here) Its a shame he left the game as like him loathe him or love him he did indeed leave his mark which is what being a great character is all about. Yes I do miss Jort :)
5.
Falhofnir
I know another Cult member but they do so get about (God knows how as they are only 4 but then I guess thats why they stand out as they are not hidden by numbers).
I laughed so much at Fals Pirate reports on here :) The only player I know of to have a pirate begging him for his life and another one begging for his modules back LOL. A great well played character and once again a very very mean PvPer (wonders if Soul and him have fought one on one)!!
Anyway these are my nominees. As I said this game is all about characters not isk and ships etc!! These 5 have stood out most to me in my travels both on here in the forums and also in game. 3 cheers for them..

Don't want to make you cry or anything, but Setec has left the game I believe. Maybe you could do a fan site for him? -------------------------------------------- Dead

Setec has left the game, I think. Still, he was a great character.

I find it amusing how people make celebrities of others, become their personal fanboys/groupies, and give a lot credit based on rumors/hearsay and sometimes undeserved. Not that there is nothing wrong with that but I just find it amusing. Nothing like getting your ego booster by your peers right?
I would personally give credit to those who commit their time to building the community.
Those who create content for the game by making maps, organizing information in databases for the public.
Those who make webpages dedicated to the game, the radio and news guys.
Those who help test/bug in chaos regularly and effectively.
The people who bother to make player made content for the game in the form of contests, player stories, player events etc.
The smart folks who digest, test, and disect the game mechanics, elements, gameplay etc. and publish it to the public for better understanding of how things work.
And most important, the people who bother to help others in positive and constructive ways. Specially the new players.
These are the unnamed ones and these are the people I give much credit to.

I find the whole game amusing and thats the point of my thread :) I was just talking about people who have greatly enhanced my playing pleasure! I dont ever see all the peeps you mention so I cant mention them can I? Anyways Whats so wrong with a bit of ego boosting? Its only a game its not important. Its just lighthearted fun on a board where most threads are whines or moaning. No need to step so quickly up onto that old soap box poppy :)

The quintecensial "specialness" of EVE is that it is a unique game world... no mirrors or alternate shards.
That people are unique and their actions are both unique and stay with them is what makes it special...
Not making celebs out of people is not playing the game. Not making celebs is not making news. Not making celebs out of anybody or anything means there are no special websites, no news, no radio.. because there is nothing to talk about, there is nobody to laud or too hate, too emulate or pull down.
All of the above builds the in-game society.
"Heroes and Villains" Mr Pops; without them there is no EVE.
(Just a little RL community of website builders with nothing to talk about.)

The most famousest of hobbits would have to be Leeloo from Beta, even before the likes of Lord Zap, Setec and the others came along, Leeloo was the one everyone loved to hate. Leeloo almost reached the 1 billion isk bounty mark which is quite an achievement as far as imfamy goes. Leeloo was the anti-hero when the game was still in the late stages of beta.

Hmm. Ok, they make a change from whining threads, but these sort of threads always end up sounding a bit too "clique-y" for my liking.

I picked mine based on having lots of personality:
1. Viceroy: No explanation needed
2. Homo-erectus: Talk about walking, talking Chaos. I don't get this guy at all, but he is active, unpredictable and beats-up pirates which works for me, and balances out my first, somewhat traitorous choice. He also seems kinda bright, which is nice for a change.
3. Tankuk: Barbarian warrior chieftain. Been on a couple of combat ops with him, he is both fun, intense and a crafty fighter. Another colourful, interesting character, and ally to boot. Razor

If you feel you need your ego massaged then fine, but I don't. I don't see why people feel the constant need to feel validated in some way.

1. Joshua Calvert -
I always seem to agree with him and I recommended a good book.
2. Setec -
He seems a levelheaded ethical pirate... if there is such a thing.
3. Viceroy -
He is just funny
4. Zezman -
You got to admire his attitude and of course the phrase "pulling a zezzie"
5. Deasdemona -
I donŠt think anyone works as little as she does when she is at work

yesssss... leeloo was the entire beta risk-factor hehe. and this is when npc pirates were actually badass, a leeloo sighting would empty space for jumps in every direction.
I think those from Beta who were so honored should have "i was podded by leeloo and you can't have my stuff" t-shirts.

LeeLoo was a real pirate, 1st time I met her I was in an ibis and she scanned me but didn't bother to shoot.
She was very good at finding the routes that would yield good results and would only kill when there was a serious gain to be made or in defence.
... you will see more and more marketing which in turn will bring you more players to torture. |

Leeloo, thats a name I havent heard in a long time:) She was the best pirate i've ever seen, hands down. I once led a warparty to try and pod her, but she was like a ghost when she didn't want to be found:) |
