Morgain dVher	Posted - 2006.10.28 05:51:00 - [1] I just got podded on a level 3 mission in my cyclone. I've been playing for almost 6 months and have just short of 4k ep. I'm sorry, I gate in, get lagged, try to launch drones and fail, try to open up guns, and fail, try to warp out, and fail. The next thing is that I'm in my pod. Only then do I get to have access to my keyboard/mouse. And yes, I have the proper drones, shield upgrades, and am using hail. Or would have if I'd gotten a chance to shoot at something. I don't complain often, but this is too much. This game has so much potential, and I'd love to lose to an opponent better than me. But to lag to death is no fun. I'll check any responses from CCP over the next week, but I have better things to do with my life than die from lag. If not replaced, game out. Flame on.

Hope it wont take long to get back on your feet). But on a side note just be happy knowing Ill be getting a mail from them to now for posting about them lol.

Sucks yeah but not much to be done about it till after they figure out the specific cause.. Eve is an increadibly complex set of databases algorithms and graphics code all needing to be perfectly syncronized with all the concurrent users on your node.. TBH i'm suprised it's 4 year old code base works as well as it does patches or not.. Heres hoping its all ironed out by all the shiney up to date code in Kali.. Akkarin Pagan Minmatar Raddick Explorations	Posted - 2006.10.28 06:08:00 - [5] I'm sorry for your loss, I feel your pain, having lost many Cyclones to lag in lvl 3 missions (particularly "The Rogue Slavers" Part 2 of 2 when you warp into the middle of 4 sentry guns, and other assorted badness). I have a coupole of questions for you though (and please don't misconstrue this as a flame but) WTF are you doing using Hail ammo on a Cyclone????????????????????????????? Cyclone works best as an arty beast with a monster shield tank. Stop fitting an AB in the meds, or trying to shield tank a close range setup, and you will find your ships last a lot longer. K, sorry about that, rant over And secondly, I have found that by zooming out before entering any part of a mission which I know is going to be a trouble spot really reduces lag (just ask any pvper), and is one of the reasons I haven't lost a Cyclone in a while. If you would like my help on kitting out your new Cyclone, feel free to contact me in game, and I'll let you have my setup / s. I'm by no means an Uberpwn Cyclone pilot, but I love the ship after having lost many (due to a lack of skills / Understanding how to utilise the ship), I have finally refined a couple of setups that have been fine to solo all lvl 3s chucked my way (except that bastardly hard new "Mordus Headhunters" jobby) Akkarin Linkage <3 - Immy

More BLADES, an extra RAMSAN etc. More hardware invariably leads to an improvement in the game. unfortunately the number of players online also takes a leap upwards when lag declines and we end up with the same situation. Wait till at least the end of November before deciding to leave. See what the new gear brings. We may be lucky this time.

AFAIK a memory leak is causing the dratted node crashes during fleet/pos battles.. If it wasn't for that the current hardware would be sufficient.. The new Yaarrdware is more for the growing playerbase with RAMSAN for the increasing market traffic and the Blades for the new regions and more flexibilty with load balancing.. Like yourself I lagged such that I couldn't do anything. I filed a petition. I had lost a Cyclone the first attempt and a Rupture the second attempt. I went and spent my insurance money and bought new ships, got them fitted up best I could. I got an answer about 2 weeks after the petition. I had the Rupture returned to me, but not the Cyclone and they removed the insurance money for the Rupture from my wallet. (I didn't have enough to cover the Cylone anymore). My rule of thumb is I only fly what I can afford to buy two more of. So when things do go to crap (and they will eventually) it's not a big deal at all recovering from it. /shrug

At what point did you believe that the EVE community, on the General forums, at best, would care? Tbh, mate, I dont enjoy talking about lag, I enjoy duelling Faction Megathrons, roaming with my corp, and enjoying EVE. Regardless of lag. And the lags being lessened on Wednesday anyway. Hardware upgrade. If you have a problem about this, Email CCP directly, but dont go spamming the forums with bad press because you lost your, maybe, 40 mil of ship. People have lost alot worse and gotten over it. If you cant take the heat, get out of the fire mate. I'm tired of seeing people ***** about this, because CCP are doing what they can, and 90% of the time, things are fine. Its just been a rough couple of months or so, and while "We pay for this so it should be right," - We pay taxes IRL, things should be right. Their not. I'll leave that one with you. Izo Azlion. ---
